摘要: A device electrically connects fluid-carrying pipelines, particularly subsea pipelines carrying viscous fluids and/or containing organic residues, allowing for the application of electricity through same, with the purpose of heating those pipelines, so as to prevent or eliminate deposits of organic residues onto the internal walls of the pipelines. The device permits also the utilization of electricity in combination with the simutaneous injection of special fluids. Basically, it includes an electrically conducting pipe (5) which is introduced in a terminal pipe (1) carrying viscous fluid, which is put in contact with the internal steel layer (3) of the terminal pipe (1) by means of electrically conducting fastening element (8).

摘要: The descaling of surface of processing equipment, vessels and piping on which scale, such as that which occurs in the extraction of alumina from bauxites has formed. The surface is cleaned to ensure that it is entirely free of contaminants and then is coated with a suitable resin such as an epoxy resin which is cross linked and thermosetting. The coating may be applied in two or more layers using the same or a different resin. The final layer may be one which readily detaches from the base coating when subjected to a high pressure fluid blast.

摘要: A pair of pipe members are joined together in a flange connection assembly particularly suited for fiber-reinforced plastic components, the pipe members being formed to include an inner pipe jacked consisting essentially of a thermoplastic material and an outer pipe jacket consisting essentially of a fiber winding impregnated with a snythetic resin. A threaded section is formed in each of the outer pipe jackets at the end of each of the pipe members, a flange bushing is provided with a loose flange ring threadedly engaged on each of the threaded sections and a covering collar covering at least the end of each of the pipe members is inserted at the inner pipe jacket.

摘要: A method and apparatus herein is disclosed that consists of establishing and equilibrating a circuit path through a working test pipe electrode and a counter electrode in an electrolyte fluid in which said test pipe electrode achieves a state of cathodic protection. Disconnecting said cathodically protected working test pipe electrode from said counter electrode. Then re-establishing a circuit path through said working test pipe electrode, said counter electrode, and a reference electrode, in said electrolyte fluid along with an electronic control and measuring means. Subsequently causing a measured known voltage step to be applied to said working test pipe electrode. Then measuring the current flowing after application of said measured applied voltage step. Finally, then analyzing said current flow data and thereby determining the double layer capacitance at the interface between said working test pipe electrode and said electrolyte fluid as a measure of disbonded area thereon.

摘要: A parallel galvano-electrolytic current path is provided to conduct a current comprising (i) a portion of the interfering current and (ii) currents arising due to varying degrees of polarization of metal surfaces. The current is measured and a variable resistor inserted in the galvanic path is reduced in value until zero current flows through the parallel galvano-electrolytic current path in the direction of the electrolytic portion of said galvano-electrolytic path. Also disclosed is a circuit for applying said method.

摘要: A cathodic protection system for a buried, fluid pipeline that has an electrical lead or coil electrically coupled between the pipeline and a sacrificial anode. As the anode deteriorates by electrochemical reaction with its environment, a current flows through the lead or coil, producing an electromagnetic field that permeates the pipeline. The strength of this magnetic field can be correlated to the condition of the sacrificial anode and/or the condition of a protective coating on the pipeline. An apparatus for detecting the strength of the electromagnetic field travels through the pipeline in a scraper or similar device, senses the magnitude of the field, and generates a signal indicative of the condition of the cathodic protection system.
