摘要: Embodiments of a vehicle interior system and methods for forming the same are disclosed. A glass substrate is bent to a curved shape within a mold cavity, and a liquid polymer material is delivered to the mold and is in contact with the curved glass substrate. The liquid polymer is solidified to form a polymer frame that engages the bent glass substrate, and the engagement between the frame and the glass substrate holds the glass substrate in the bent shape. The temperature of the glass substrate during the bending process and formation of the frame are maintained below the glass transition temperature of the glass substrate.

摘要: The subject invention includes a fixed window assembly for a vehicle comprising a fixed glass, a trim portion having a polymeric base and a decorative member bonded to the polymeric base. An encapsulation is coupled to the fixed glass and the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in a spaced and adjacent position relative to the fixed glass. A method of manufacturing is also provided using first and second molding apparatuses. Polymeric material is injected into a first mold cavity of the first molding apparatus to form the polymeric base bonded to the decorative member. Polymeric material is injected into a second mold cavity of the second molding apparatus to form the encapsulation coupled to the fixed glass and simultaneously coupled to the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in an adjacent position to the fixed glass.

摘要: An injection mold for encapsulating a substrate comprises a lower mold component and an upper mold component adapted to form an encapsulation mold at an edge of the substrate when the upper mold component engages the lower mold component. The lower mold component comprises a substrate support and wherein the upper mold component comprises a recess. The injection mold includes a tiltable insert sized and shaped to slide within the recess to form a seal for the encapsulation mold, the insert having a substrate-contacting surface defining an area of the substrate contacted by the insert. The injection mold includes a plurality of pressure-exerting actuators connected to the tiltable insert and each being configured to independently apply pressure on the substrate via the insert, wherein the plurality of pressure-exerting actuators are adapted to equilibrate a total predetermined pressure exerted by the insert substantially evenly across the area of the substrate-contacting surface.

摘要: The invention relates to a process for producing complex, mould-foamed rigid foam materials, more particularly of poly(meth)acrylimide (P(M)I) cores, preferably of polymethacrylimide (PMI) cores, which may be employed, for example, in carmaking or aircraft construction. A feature of the process is that through use of a particulate core during foam, it is possible to achieve an additional weight saving relative to foam materials or sandwich materials of the prior art.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a seal assembly for attachment to a vehicle having a securing point spaced from a vehicle point at a distance with an apparatus having first and second receptacles defining a cavity, and a bracket apparatus defining a bracket cavity, including: forming a first strip having a first body with first ends; forming a second strip having a second body with second ends; positioning one first end into the first receptacle with the first body adjacent to the bracket cavity; positioning one second end into the second receptacle; forming a molding bonding the strips together to define a mold point; forming a bracket with a receiver at a receiver point, and an interface bonded to the first body spaced such that a distance between the receiver point of the bonded bracket and the mold point is equal to the distance between the securing and vehicle points.

摘要: Methods are disclosed for forming polarized films and glasses having polarization efficiency that is varied in a predetermined design. In particular, such designs include monochrome and color polarization density gradients, where the non-polarized areas of films and glasses allow viewing of polarized displays without distortion. The methods include forming films and glasses that have visually uniform density while still incorporating polarization gradients. The disclosed methods also enable creation of polarization filters and glasses with increased optical density and reduced glare from multiple angles.

摘要: A plurality of molded cover members are manufactured by first singulating a single sheet of cover material, such as glass, into a plurality of separate, discrete cover members, placing the cover members in spaced-apart positions on a releaseable carrier, and applying a molded material to the perimeter of each cover member. The molded material can be applied by a blanket molding technique whereby gaps between adjacent cover members are filled, and then the cover members are singulated, leaving a portion of the cover material on the perimeter of each cover member, and then the singulated, molded cover members are released from the releasable carrier. Alternatively, the molded material is applied by a patterned molding technique whereby molding material is applied to the perimeter of each cover member without fully filling the gaps between adjacent cover members, and then the molded cover members are released from the releasable carrier.

A method according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, providing at least one layer of ion treated glass in a desired shape, molding a plastic body to one side of the ion treated glass such that an opposite side of the ion treated glass forms a vehicle exterior surface, and assembling at least one input device to the plastic body.
