The system further comprises loudspeaker nodes connected to the powered audio bus, where each of the nodes comprises a loudspeaker and an amplifier for driving the loudspeaker based on power from the audio bus, the control information and the audio information. The loudspeaker system further comprises a power consumption control arrangement arranged to reduce a power consumption of the loudspeaker nodes. The power consumption reduction may be obtained on basis of monitored parameters and may be performed for example by entering a standby mode, by reducing the bus voltage which powers the loudspeaker nodes, by reducing a switch frequency of the amplifiers and by other means.

A microphone, which may be a virtual microphone, is disposed at the identified location. The microphone detects sound at the identified location. In response to the sound detected by the microphone, the one or more speakers emit a noise-canceling audio signal adapted to attenuate one or more frequencies in the sound detected by the microphone.

In an example embodiment, a playback device causes one or more speakers to emit audio and then receives audio data representing at least a portion of the emitted audio. The playback device determines, based on the received audio data, that a barrier is distorting audio output of the playback device by at least a distortion threshold. In response to determining that the barrier is distorting audio output of the playback device beyond the distortion threshold, the playback device applies a playback configuration that at least partially offsets the distortion.
