摘要： A method of drying a plurality of confection pieces, such as marshmallow bits, having a high volume density and outer surfaces which are adhesive at elevated temperature and moisture levels. A high volume density group of confection pieces at elevated moisture levels is heated while being fluidically transported with an air flow and while being vibrated until the moisture content thereof is reduced by one-half. The confection pieces are thereafter cooled with a cooler air flow, with the fluidized transport and vibration being continued throughout the cooling step.

摘要： An apparatus for the treatment of divided solid material is provided having a chamber disposed about a generally vertical axis. Means are provided for introducing the divided solid material into the top portion of the chamber and further means are provided for introducing a pressurized gas into the bottom portion of the chamber. The apparatus includes first impeller means, supported by a first shaft adapted to rotate about the axis, and situated in the top portion of the chamber, for fluidizing the divided solid material in the top portion of the chamber to thereby prevent the divided solid material from clogging within the top portion of the chamber. Additionally, the apparatus includes second impeller means, spaced from the first impeller means, supported by a second shaft adapted to rotate about the axis, and situated in the bottom portion of the chamber, for radially dispersing the pressurized gas and for fluidizing the divided solid material in the bottom portion of the chamber. The means for introducing pressurized gas may be affixed to the second impeller means and adapted to rotate therewith to thereby aid in the radial distribution of the pressurized gas.

摘要： Organic waste materials are mixed and batches are separately brought into the form of a coherent substantially homogeneous pulp with a moisture content between 50 and 55% by weight, by heating with exhaust gases, drying in an oven, admixing dry material, and spraying dry material with liquid manure recuperated from the waste materials. The pulp is chopped and immediately thereafter extruded to form frangible strands, sections of which are allowed to break off, without cutting, and to further break by dropping onto a conveyor. Breakage into pellets is completed, without the use of a conventional pelletizing drum involving compression of the pellets, in a vibrated fluidized bed where the pellets are superficially dried to a non-tacky state, drying being completed in further non-vibrated fluidized beds.
