    摘要: An improved fermentation device and method uses a combination of substantially pure Oxygen as the Oxygenation gas and a separate air (or other Oxygen reducing gas) purge through the headspace of a fermentation device. The air injection and air purge vent line are configured to maintain a backpressure within the headspace. The air purge permits improved oxygen utilization and increases safety through dilution and removal of ammonia gas emitted during fermentation.

    摘要: The present invention provides processes, inter alia, for the treatment of a starch-based feedstock. The processes include mixing together a starch-based feedstock and a working fluid to form a slurry, hydrating the starch-based feedstock with the working fluid, adding an enzyme to the slurry, pumping the slurry into a substantially constant diameter passage of a fluid mover, and injecting a high velocity transport fluid into the slurry through one or more nozzles communicating with the passage, thereby further hydrating and heating the starch-based feedstock and dispersing the starch content of the slurry. Apparatuses for carrying out such processes are also provided. Processes for converting starch in feedstocks into oligosaccharides and systems for producing sugars and ethanol using the processes and apparatuses of the invention are also provided. Processes for calculating ethanol yield using the apparatuses are also provided.

The flange is provided with an insertion passage that fluidically communicates with the inside space on one end and with the outside of the container on the other end. The flange is fixed in a rigid and sealing manner to the upper part of the wall of the container around an insertion opening, the insertion passage and the insertion opening communicating fluidically. The flange also supports, on the inside thereof, an upper bearing that is arranged inside, adjacent to the insertion passage, without preventing the fluidic communication between the insertion passage and the insertion opening. The mixing container is used to receive a biopharmaceutical content to be mixed.

    摘要: Waste material is screened to produce unders and overs, the overs are treated to produce a partially hydrolyzed biomass, and the partially hydrolyzed biomass and the unders are anaerobically digested. Treating the overs includes fermenting and mixing the overs with an aerotolerant anaerobic bacteria in a controlled environment, such as a rotating drum, while air is passed through the controlled environment. The moisture content, pH, and biological content of the overs can be adjusted before the overs are treated. Volatile fatty acids from the air passed through the controlled environment can be collected for anaerobic digestion or can be recirculated back into the controlled environment. The cleansed air can also be recycled back into the controlled environment.

    摘要: A probe assembly includes a tubular sleeve having a passage extending between a first end and an opposing second end. The tubular sleeve is movable between an extended position wherein the first end and the opposing second end are spaced apart and a collapsed position wherein the first end and the opposing second end are moved closer together. A connector is secured to the second end of the tubular sleeve, the connector having an opening extending therethrough that communicates with the passage of the tubular sleeve, a sealing layer removably covering the opening of the connector. An elongated probe has a first end and an opposing second end, the second end of the probe being positioned within the passage of the tubular sleeve, the second end of the probe being configured to pass through the opening of the connector when the sealing layer is removed therefrom.
