摘要: An electronic component includes external electrodes formed on a base member, each external electrode including a plurality of layers of which the outermost layer is a tin plating layer. The tin plating layer has a polycrystalline structure, and atoms of a metal other than tin are diffused into the tin crystal grain boundaries. Alternatively, each external electrode includes a plurality of layers including a thick-film electrode formed on the base member, a nickel layer or a nickel alloy layer formed on the thick-film electrode and a tin plating layer formed on the nickel layer or the nickel alloy layer. The tin plating layer has a polycrystalline structure and nickel atoms are diffused into the tin crystal grain boundaries. Methods for fabricating electronic components and a circuit board provided with a plurality of electronic components are also disclosed.

摘要: An iron aluminide fuel injector component such as a nozzle, plunger or other part is manufactured from iron aluminide or includes an iron aluminide coating on at least a portion of a surface in contact with the fuel which passes through the fuel injector. The iron aluminide alloy can include 8 to 32 wt. % Al, up to 5 wt. % refractory metal, B and/or C in amounts sufficient to form borides and/or carbides. The fuel injector component can be formed from powders of the iron aluminide alloy by powder metallurgy techniques and the coating can be formed by a diffusional reaction process, cathodic plasma process, chemical vapor deposition or physical vapor deposition. The fuel injector component is corrosion, carburization, sulfidation and/or coking resistant.

摘要: A method for producing a laminated metal ribbon comprises the steps of (a) vapor-depositing a third metal layer on at least one welding surface of a first metal ribbon 4 and a second metal ribbon 5 in a vacuum chamber 1, the third metal being the same as or different from a metal or an alloy of the first and second metal ribbons 4, 5; (b) pressure-welding the first metal ribbon 4 to the second metal ribbon 5; and (c) subjecting the resultant laminate 9 to a heat treatment for thermal diffusion.

摘要: The invention provides a new and improved process and exothermic reaction mixture for producing molten weld metal. The molten weld metal is used in joining one metallic piece with at least one other metallic piece. The process and exothermic reaction mixture have distinct advantages over the prior art. These advantages include a higher filler metal yield, an increased tensile strength, and a higher quality corrosion resistant weld. These advantages are accomplished by a process wherein a reactant mixture is provided which has a reducing agent, a metallic compound, and at least two filler metals that at least in part do not chemically react with the metallic compound, one of which is aluminum. The metallic compound subsequently forms, with the reducing agent, having a high heat of formation which provides an exothermic reaction with sufficient heat to melt the filler metals. The reactant mixture is exothermically reacted to release heat and melt the filler metals and provide a flow of filler metals from the reactant and product mixture which may be contacted with objects to be welded by the filler metals.
