    摘要: A plastic optical fiber comprising a fluorine-containing core polymer consisting essentially of 1) a group (A) of repeating units having a cyclic structure represented by general formula (I) and/or general formula (II); or 2) the group (A) above and group (B) of repeating units represented by general formula (III) wherein the content of the group (A) in the core polymer is at least 80 wt %; and a clad copolymer of perfluoro(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxole) and at least one other ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a refractive index below that of the core polymer. ##STR1## (wherein n is 1 or 2)--CF.sub.2 --CFX (III)(wherein X is F, Cl, O--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CF.sub.3, O--CF.sub.2 CF(CF.sub.3)OCF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 SO.sub.2 F, or O--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 COOCH.sub.3)This plastic optical fiber has heat-resistance and very few water-absorbing properties, and can transmit not only visible rays but also rays having wavelengths in the near infrared region.

    摘要: Coated optical glass fibers are described, wherein the coating composition comprises an unsaturated polyester containing at least one of (1) polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from 200 to 1,000 as a glycol component, (2) a long chain saturated aliphatic dibasic acid containing 12 or more carbon atoms as saturated polybasic acid component, and an acrylate or methacrylate, and (3) a long chain saturated aliphatic dibasic acid containing 6 or more carbon atoms as a saturated polybasic acid component and a long chain aliphatic dihydric alcohol containing 4 or more carbon atoms as a glycol component; and an acrylate or methacrylate.

    摘要: The present disclosure includes an optical fiber ribbon, using polymer optical fibers and an extremely thin adhesive coating to provide adhesion between the fibers. The external surfaces of the optical fiber ribbons are precisely placed with respect to the optical cores of the constituent fibers, and the optical cores of the fibers are precisely placed with respect to each other. Therefore, the external surface of the ribbon is used as a reference surface for aligning the array of optical fiber cores to arrays of optical emitters or detectors at the ends of the ribbon. Thus, the optical fiber ribbon of the present disclosure is cut, either by a sharp blade or other tool as suitable to expose a cross-section of the ribbon, and inserted as a single unit into a receptacle that aligns the outer surface of the ribbon with respect to the array of optical emitters or detectors.
