    Abstract: A machine for loading bottles into cases having a bottle conveyor for continuously conveying upstanding bottles through a bottle retriever station, and a bottle grouper for grouping together into a preselected arrangement a plurality of upstanding bottles on the conveyor. A case conveyor is provided for continually conveying open cases through a case loading station. A bottle gripper is also provided for gripping and carrying a grouped plurality of upstanding bottles as they move through the bottle retrieving station off of the bottle conveyor, and for subsequently depositing the group of bottles into an open case as it passes through the case loading station upon the case conveyor. The gripper itself includes a finger suspension member and a plurality of bottle gripping fingers pivotably suspended from the finger suspension member about an open space for mutually convergent and divergent movement towards and away from the open space, respectively. The mechanism also includes a finger locking sleeve mounted about the finger suspension member and the bottle gripping fingers and an actuator for imparting relative movement between the finger suspension member and the finger locking sleeve to effect the mutually convergent and divergent movements.

    Abstract: A series of articulated product gripper mechanisms are mounted on a continuously operating pickup conveyor having a reach adjacent the product transfer zone of a continuously operating transport conveyor that has cold plates running through a freezing tunnel. The gripper mechanisms are employed to transfer frozen confections such as ice cream bars, ice cream cones, ice cream cups, and stickless or stick novelties from the transport conveyor cold plates to the pickup conveyor. Each gripper mechanism includes replaceable gripping tongs or fingers appropriate to the particular type of confection being handled, and is operable to pick up the moving confection, invert and dip the confection in a coating bath and in a dry confection applicator, and release the coated confection in predetermined orientation onto the inlet conveyor of an associated wrapping machine. The pickup conveyor is elevationally adjustable for accurately positioning the gripper mechanisms relative to the cold plates; this adjustment capability is related to the universal adaptability of the gripper mechanisms to different types of products such as ice cream or bars, and also to different thickness bar type products, both stick type and stickless.

    Abstract: Apparatus for transferring bulblike glass articles from a ribbon-type forming machine to a receiving conveyor. The transfer apparatus includes a plurality of individual transfer devices mounted for movement along an endless rectangular path, one run of which extends in parallel operative relationship with the article-forming ribbon machine and another run of which extends in parallel operative relationship with a receiving conveyor. The individual transfer devices include an open-ended U-shaped article support yoke and a pair of article retainer fingers both mounted upon a carrier member mounted upon a carriage which is in turn mounted upon a bracket driven in movement along the generally rectangular endless path referred to above. The bracket is supported for vertical movement as it moves along its path, while the carriage is mounted on the bracket so that it may be extended or withdrawn horizontally in a direction normal to the path of movement of the bracket along its endless path. The carrier is in turn slidably mounted on the carriage for sliding movement parallel to the path of movement of the carriage on the bracket. Movement of the carrier relative to the bracket is confined to a range less than that of the movement of the carriage relative to the bracket, the excess movement or overtravel of the carriage as compared to the carrier being employed to open and close the retainer fingers at selected portions of the endless path. Vertical movement of the bracket and extending or withdrawing movement of the carriage upon the bracket is accomplished by means of cams mounted upon the frame of the transfer machine.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a bottle conveyor for a filling machine, comprising multiple pairs of bottle-gripping members and a circulating chain conveyor mechanism, and a pair of bottle-gripping members is mounted, via an open-close modular mechanism, to a convey chain of the circulating chain conveyor mechanism. The open-close modular mechanism is provided with a rotary support capable of being opened as a V-shape, a synchronization mechanism configured to define the opened V-shape, an elastic mechanism configured to provide a bottle-gripping force to the bottle-gripping member and a self-restoring force for the opened V-shape, and an external force import mechanism. A mechanism configured to open the bottle-gripping members is provided respectively at a bottle entrance location and a bottle exit location of the bottle conveyor, and the mechanism configured to open the bottle-gripping members cooperates with the external force import mechanism to provide an external force. The bottle conveyor can rapidly open or close the bottle-gripping members on the circulating chain conveyor mechanism directly, thus improving the conveyance efficiency and speed, alleviating loading of a motor, and simplifying the structure of a robotic arm and the structure for opening or closing the bottle-gripping members in the filling machine.

    Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for receiving and transporting a stream of eggs, comprising, —a conveyor for transporting eggs in a transport direction T, —a releasing device connected with the conveyor, for releasing predetermined eggs away from the conveyor, separately, downwardly out of the stream, —a guide for receiving and taking over such an egg from the releasing device and guiding it to an egg processing apparatus, and —two driven star wheels placed substantially close to each other, with shafts perpendicular to T, and with opposite directions of rotation of the shafts, while upon rotation their blades along a part of the rotation path are placed over each other and transport the eggs substantially cupwise downwardly. In a suitable manner, with this apparatus, for example intact but dirty eggs can be released from a sorting stream and be received for further handling or processing.
