Abstract: A jam switch to identify a jam of containers, more particularly bottles, transported on a conveyor of a conveyor mechanism, comprising an ultrasonic sensor. The ultrasonic sensor transmitting an ultrasonic signal and receiving an echo signal reflected back by a container present in a detection region of the jam switch. A reflector with a sound-deflecting sound deflection surface is disposed upstream of an aperture which is part of the ultrasonic sensor and which emits the sound lobe. The sound deflection surface being shaped and arranged such that the sound lobe emitted by the ultrasonic sensor is deflected in such a way at the sound deflection surface that the sound lobe, in relation to the sensor axis, is expanded with a divergence angle of 90° to 180° in a first plane and is unchanged or even more sharply focused in a second plane aligned at right angles to the first plane.

In addition, the subject system may be used for inspection of conveyed products.

Abstract: A container conveying device includes a contact support portion which comes into contact with one side surface of a container, a star wheel, a contact support portion which comes into contact with the other side surface of the container, and a holding wheel provided to be relatively rotatable with respect to the star wheel. Abstract: A system for inspecting bottles includes a conveyor conveying bottles at a first speed. A starwheel, rotating at a second speed, less than the first speed, receives each bottle. Sensors are disposed adjacent the starwheel for detecting at least one of a residual liquid in the bottle and a defect in the bottle. The starwheel deposits each bottle on the conveyor at a downstream position. An outer sidewall inspection system, disposed along the path, has a first camera assembly and a second camera assembly disposed along the path and each bottle passes therebetween. A first belt is disposed along the conveyor in facing relation with a second belt to rotate the bottle. The outer sidewall inspection system has a third camera assembly and a fourth camera assembly disposed along the path, downstream of the first belt; each bottle passing between the third camera assembly and the fourth camera assembly.

Abstract: An apparatus and process for processing outer surfaces of glass containers (50) for use in pharmaceutical, medical or cosmetic applications, said glass containers (50) having a cylindrical main body (52). In this manner the surface properties of glass containers may be enhanced significantly with a cost-efficient and simple processing to thereby prevent undesired ‘stickiness behavior’ of the glass containers.
