Abstract: A video coding device includes a memory configured to store video data, and processing circuitry in communication with the memory. The processing circuitry is configured to determine that a current block of the video data stored to the memory is to be coded according to a merge mode, and to determine a temporal candidate associated with a merge candidate list for the current block in accordance with the merge mode. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a pool of spatial candidates associated with the merge candidate list, based on each spatial candidate of the pool having a same reference picture as the temporal candidate, and to set a local illumination compensation (LIC) flag value for the temporal candidate based on respective LIC flag values of one or more spatial candidates of the pool.

Abstract: An example device for coding point cloud data includes a memory configured to store data representing points of a point cloud, and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: determine height values of points in a point cloud; classify the points into a set of ground points or a set of object points according to the height values; and code the ground points and the object points according to the classifications. The one or more processors may determine top and bottom thresholds and classify the ground and object points according to the top and bottom thresholds. The one or more processors may further code a data structure, such as a geometry parameter set (GPS), including data representing the top and bottom thresholds.

Abstract: A video coder may code a block of video data using an intra prediction mode determined from a most probable mode list. The video coder may construct a general most probable mode list containing N entries, wherein the N entries of the general most probable mode list are intra prediction modes, and wherein a planar mode is an ordinal first entry in the general most probable mode list, construct a primary most probable mode list from a first Np entries in the general most probable mode list, where Np is less than N, and construct a secondary most probable mode list from a remaining (N-Np) entries in the general most probable mode list. The video coder may then determine a current intra prediction mode for a current block of video data using the primary most probable mode list or the secondary most probable mode list.

Abstract: An example device for decoding video data includes one or more processors configured to: determine that a first weight and a second weight are specified for a bi-prediction mode predicted current block of video data; determine whether the current block is to be predicted using multi-hypothesis prediction (MHP) mode with the bi-prediction mode as a base mode; in response to determining that the current block is to be predicted using the MHP mode with the bi-prediction mode as the base mode, determine an additional inter-prediction mode of the MHP mode; generate a first prediction block according to the bi-prediction mode; generate a second prediction block according to the additional inter-prediction mode; generate a final prediction block for the current block according to the MHP mode using the first prediction block and the second prediction block; and decode the current block using the final prediction block.

Based at least in part on the coding mode for the current block being the affine mode and PROF being enabled in the SPS for the current block, the one or more processors are configured to disable a deblocking filter for subblock boundaries of the current block and decode the current block with the deblocking filter disabled for the subblock boundaries of the current block.
