    摘要: Active energy beam-curable compositions which comprise (1) at least one compound having one oxetane ring and one hydroxyl group in the molecule, (2) at least one compound having one or more oxirane rings in the molecule and (3) at least one compound which initiates cathionic polymerization by irradiation of active energy beams, are provided. The compositions can be rapidly cured by irradiation of active energy beams, such as ultraviolet rays and electron beams, to give excellent adhesion to basic materials.

    摘要: Polyoxyalkylene glycols are prepared by a process in which tetrahydrofuran is polymerized with a total of not more than 95 mol %, based on the amount of tetrahydrofuran used, of one or more comonomers from the group consisting of the cyclic ethers and acetals in the absence of water and in the presence of a monohydric alcohol or of a monocarboxylic acid with the aid of an anhydrous heteropoly acid catalyst, and the polyoxyalkylene glycol is liberated from the resulting polyoxyalkylene glycol monoethers or polyoxyalkylene glycol monoesters by cleavage of the monoether or monoester bond.

    摘要: The present invention is based on the discovery that various metal catalysts will catalyze the ring opening polymerization of epoxides to yield polyethers. The present invention therefore provides a method of making a polymeric product by ring-opening polymerization of heterocyclic epoxide monomer including the steps of preparing a mixture comprised of a catalyst; a Si--H containing compound; and at least one compound which is a heterocyclic epoxide containing monomer; and reacting the mixture at a temperature effective to promote ring-opening polymerization of the at least one compound to produce a polymeric product, preferably at room temperature.The present invention additionally provides for the silicone-polyether compositions created by this method.

    摘要: The present invention relates to copolyethers comprising copolymers of 7,oxa-bicyclo(2,2,1)heptane, and its alkyl-derivatives, with one or more single-ring or condensed-rings cycloaliphatic ethers, comprising the characteristic group; ##STR1## wherein R' is hydrogen and R" is H, a halogen, or an alkyl radical containing a small number of carbon atoms, and which may also be halogen-substituted.If the ether contains one ring only, it contains from 5 to 12 atoms in the ring, and if it contains a condensed-ring system, it contains a total number of from 10 to 18 atoms in the rings.Those copolyethers show a anisotropic behaviour in the molten state, and therefore have liquid-crystal properties.

    摘要: A process for preparing an adhesive, transparent, corrosion and abrasion resistant polymeric coating on a substrate, such as a glass, plastic or metal such as aluminum or steel. The substrate is coated with a mixture of up to about 15% by weight of an expanding polycyclic monomer such as a spiroorthocarbonate or spiroorthoester, a diepoxy oligomer such as a diglycidyl ether, and a lactone in a concentration of from about 1:2.5 to 1:4.5 by weight of the oligomer. To this mixture is added a catalytic quantity of a boron trihalide-amine complex and a catalytic quantity of an aromatic photocatalyst which releases a carbonium ion upon ultraviolet irradiation. The coated substrate is exposed to broad wavelength UV light for from about 2 to 20 seconds to initiate polymerization. Polymerization of the coating is completed by heating the coated substrate at a temperature of from about 50.degree. to 120.degree. C. for a sufficient period to complete polymerization to a flexible, tough, abrasive and corrosion resistant transparent coating. If the substrate is very thin, the heating may be omitted, as determined by the artisan. Instead of heating to complete polymerization, a di- or tri- functional acrylate may be added to the initial mixture. Preferably, the expanding monomer is a spiroorthoester formed in situ by the reaction of a lactone such as .gamma.-butyrolactone with an epoxide, as known in the art.
