Abstract:
An apparatus for cutting fruit. The apparatus includes a frame, at least first and second cutting stations, at least one receptacle in which the fruit is received that includes a plurality of extensions protruding outwardly from an outer circumference thereof, and a conveyor that conveys the receptacle from the first cutting station to the second cutting station. The frame includes a kicker. In use, the object is cut along its vertical axis at the first station, the receptacle is then rotated about its vertical axis as a result of one of the extensions contacting the kicker, and the object is cut at the second station.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a woodworking machine having a movable cutting tool. The method monitors a signal for a change indicative of a dangerous condition between the cutting tool and a person, senses movement of the cutting tool, and performs an action to mitigate the dangerous condition when the signal change and movement of the cutting tool are both detected. A woodworking machine including a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between a person and a working portion of the machine and then to perform some action to mitigate the dangerous condition is also disclosed. A motion detection system is adapted to detect motion of the working portion and to disable the reaction system when the working portion is not moving.
Abstract:
A miter saw which prevents deterioration in perpendicularity of a cutting blade to the upper surface of a base part when slide of a pipe is regulated by pressing a pipe. In a miter saw, a pair of pipes support a cutting part, on one end side. On the other end side, the pipes are surrounded and supported slidably by a first slide support part of a support member of a turntable. A virtual plane including the axes of the pair of pipes is substantially parallel to the pivotal direction of a disc saw blade. A first screw is screwed in the first slide support part. An end part of the first screw contacts and presses a pipe. This end part is engaged with the pipe so as to restrict slide of the pipe relative to the first slide support part.
Abstract:
A powered jamb saw is provided which is ideally suited for making corner cuts. A cylindrical housing for the shaft of the circular saw blade is mounted in a split bushing tensioned by a threaded bolt secured to and for rotation by a handle positioned so as to permit the workman to use both hands to position the jamb saw during its use in making cuts.
Abstract:
A process for the production of a slab that consists of cross-grained wood tie-beams includes the following stages: preparing cross-grained wood tie-beams (16); preparing a high-density substrate (12) to limit the compressibility; preparing an adhesive interface with a layer of a removable adhesive; and placing the tie-beams (16) on this interface. The device is also described.
Abstract:
A cutting mechanism includes a guard, a saw blade mounted within the guard, a motor for rotating the saw blade to cut a workpiece, and a handle unit. The handle unit includes an operating handle that has a first end and a second end connected to the first end, the first end of the operating handle being pivotally positioned along the top side of the guard in one of a number of positions including an initial position where a line between the first end and second end of the operating handle is kept in parallel to said saw blade, a left position 90-degrees leftwards from the initial position and a right position 90-degrees rightwards from the initial position.
Abstract:
There is provided a desk-top cutting machine which includes a base that supports a wood material W; a turntable that has a rotating shaft part and is carried and supported on the base rotatably around the rotating shaft part; a cutting part having a swinging shaft part, the cutting part which is disposed on the turntable, supports a cutting blade up of the turntable, and swings the cutting blade approachably to and separably from the turntable; a scale part and an indicator part which display a rotary angle of the turntable with the base; and an irradiation unit which is provided near the indicator part and emits light that illuminates the indicator part.
Abstract:
A woodworking machine including a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between a person and a working portion of the machine is disclosed. The machine includes a reaction system associated with the detection system to cause a predetermined action to take place relative to the working portion upon detection of the dangerous condition. A motion detection system is adapted to detect motion of the working portion and to disable the reaction system when the working portion is not moving. The motion detection system may include a sensor, such as a Hall effect sensor, an electromagnetic field sensor, an optical sensor, or an electrical sensor. The woodworking machine may take the form of a saw, the working portion may be a blade adapted to cut when spinning, and the dangerous condition may be a person contacting the blade.
Abstract:
A saw, such as a chop saw, a miter saw, a sliding saw, a compound miter saw, etc. In some constructions, the saw may include a miter adjustment assembly including a coarse adjustment assembly and a fine adjustment assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a bevel adjustment assembly including a brake mechanism and a bevel detent assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a dust collection assembly including a dust chute defining a dust both around the bevel arm. In some constructions, the saw may include a table having a top wall with a peripheral rim and a side wall depending from the top wall, and a base defining an opening in which the side wall is received and a ledge above which the rim is positioned. In some constructions, the saw may include elastomeric material covering a portion of the base, such as a bottom surface, a lateral surface, a grip surface, etc.
Abstract:
A guide device for cutting lap joints includes a frame and a rectilinear guide member, the frame having a Y-like shape and consisting of a removable top portion and a bottom portion forming a yoke therebetween at the upper portion of the Y-like frame. The lower portion of the Y-like frame has a guide portion and one side of the guide portion extends to be co-linear with one side of the yoke portion forming a first adjustable guide surface. The guide portion is provided with a guide way running longitudinally along the guide portion with a movable stopper provided so as to move along the guide surface as guided by the guide way. The movable stopper has a lockable member for locking the movable stopper in any desired position along said guide surface. The other side of the guide portion opposite to the guide surface forms an angle of 45 degrees with another contiguous side of the yoke portion and a fixed stopper is formed near the junction of the yoke portion and this other side of the guide portion. The rectilinear guide member is removably inserted within the yoke, extending perpendicular to the adjustable guide surface, a bottom edge thereof forming a 45 degree angle with said fixed stopper.
