Abstract: A system includes code configured to cause a processor to obtain a video bitstream, the video bitstream including: a first quantization index value for a coefficient of a coded image; an offset value; a quantization step size that corresponds to the first quantization index value; a second quantization index value for another coefficient of the coded image, the second quantization index value being based on both the first quantization index value and the offset value and being greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold value; and a mode indicating whether the coded image is to be decoded in a lossy mode or a lossless mode, the mode being determined based on whether the first quantization index value is equal to a quantization index value associated with lossless coding, and whether the offset value is less than or equal to the quantization index value associated with the lossless coding.

Abstract: A picture in a data stream is subdivided into different size transform bocks. For a transform block, a transformation is selected by checking whether the block's size exceeds a threshold. If it does, a default technique is used to select the transformation. If it does not, a transformation is used from a list of transformations as identified by an index, the list including an identity transformation and non-identity transformations. A coefficients block in the data stream is decoded, and if the selected transformation is the identity transformation, then the coefficients block is used as a residual sample array, and if the selected transformation is not the identity transformation, the coefficients block is subjected to an inverse transformation corresponding to the selected transformation to obtain a residual sample array used to correct a prediction for the transform block.

Abstract: When a transform-basis adaptive selection mode is enabled, an encoder that transforms residuals of a current block to encode an image: adaptively selects a first horizontal transform basis from among one or more transform basis candidates when a horizontal size of the current block is greater than a first horizontal threshold size; otherwise selects a fixed horizontal transform basis as a first horizontal transform basis; adaptively selects a first vertical transform basis from among the one or more transform basis candidates when a vertical size of the current block is greater than a first vertical threshold size; otherwise selects a fixed vertical transform basis as a first vertical transform basis; and generates first transform coefficients by performing a first horizontal transform and a first vertical transform on the residuals of the current block, using the first horizontal transform basis selected and the first vertical transform basis selected, respectively.

Abstract: Systems and methods of encoding display data include performing a part of a first predetermined transform algorithm on at least a first part of a first frame of display data, and analyzing a light level to determine whether a different transform algorithm would be more suitable for encoding a second part of the first frame of the display data. If it is determined that a different transform algorithm would be more suitable for encoding, the second part of the first frame of the display data is encoded using the different transform algorithm to generate an encoded first frame. If it is determined that a different transform algorithm would not be more suitable for encoding, the second part of the first frame of the display data is encoded using the first predetermined transform algorithm to generate the encoded first frame.
