    Abstract: Provided are battery coupling systems. The system may comprise a first terminal electrically coupled to a vehicle electrical system; and a first contactor electrically coupled to a first battery connection of a battery and the first terminal, the first contactor comprising a first solid state switch for selectively coupling and decoupling the first battery connection to and from the first terminal, using a first control signal. The system may also comprise a second terminal electrically coupled to the vehicle electrical system; and a second contactor electrically coupled to a second battery connection of the battery and the second terminal, the second contactor comprising a second solid state switch for selectively coupling and decoupling the second battery connection to and from the second terminal, using a second control signal.

    Abstract: A converter is to convert at least one of a first voltage output from a first energy storage device and a second voltage output from a second energy storage device. A detector is to detect the first voltage and a current flowing between the first energy storage device and the second energy storage device. Circuitry is configured to control the converter to perform a first constant current control in which a first constant current flows from one of the first energy storage device and the second energy storage device to another of the first energy storage device and the second energy storage device. The circuitry is configured to determine a state of the first energy storage device based on the first voltage and the first constant current while the first constant current control is performed.

    Abstract: A battery pack includes a plurality of rechargeable batteries, a sensor, and a battery manager. The sensor obtains motion information of the rechargeable batteries. The motion information includes at least one of first information obtained by sensing whether the rechargeable batteries are in a movement state or in a standstill state or second information on a state in which the rechargeable batteries are inclined. The second information may be obtained based on a change in angle when the rechargeable batteries are in the movement state. The battery manager control charging or discharging of the rechargeable batteries in a charge mode or a discharge mode based on the motion information.

    Abstract: An electric vehicle includes a battery modules electrically connected in parallel and having the same nominal module voltage, a determination device for determining a battery state parameter representing a state of charge of the battery module; a switching system to switch current paths of the battery modules to be conducting or blocking; an energy management system configured to, if a battery module has a state of charge that is noticeably lower than a state of charge of another battery modules, switch the current path of the battery module with the lower state of charge to be blocking during a driving mode until the charging state of the battery module with the higher state of charge is balanced with the charge state of the battery module with the lower state of charge, and then switch the current path of the battery module with the lower state of charge to be conductive.

    Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for a multilevel electrical vehicle (EV) motor drive circuit with an integrated battery charger. The apparatus, system and method may include a direct current (DC) battery for the EV connected in parallel with a capacitance; and a three level inverter circuit in parallel with the DC battery and connected in neutral point bisection with the capacitance, comprising: a high frequency low voltage pulse width modulation circuit; and a low frequency fundamental switching circuit at least partially in parallel with the high frequency low voltage pulse width modulation circuit. Additionally included may be motor windings connected in neutral point bisection with the low frequency fundamental switching circuit; and a power factor correction boost charging circuit connected to the three level inverter circuit, and connected to an alternating current grid.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a system may comprise at least two power supplies which may comprise a first power source, a first step-down converter, a first switching device, a first bus, a second power source, a second step-down converter, a second switching device, and a second bus, the first and second buses being electrically separate. An exemplary system may further comprise an alternate power supply comprising a third power source and an alternate step-down converter connected to at least the first and second buses via at least a third switching device, the alternate power supply acting as a backup power supply configured to be used after a failure of one or more of the at least two power supplies. In some embodiments, the first and second switching devices may be controlled by at least a first controller and the at least third switching device may be controlled by an alternate controller.
