摘要: A sensor for sensing gaseous chemicals includes a substrate, a variable resistance nanocrystalline ITO thin film formed on the substrate, and electrodes electrically coupled to the thin film. A sensor array assembly includes a sensor slide and a perforated interface circuit. The interface circuit abuts and electrically couples the sensor slide. The sensor slide includes several spaced apart ITO film strips formed on a slide substrate. A common electrode is electrically coupled to a common portion of each ITO film strip providing an electrically conductive path across the common portions of each of the plurality of spaced apart ITO film strips. A discrete electrode is electrically coupled to a discrete portion of each ITO film strip. The interface circuit is configured to abut and electrically couple to the sensor slide. A conductive discrete electrode pad electrically couples each of the plurality of discrete electrodes of the sensor slide to discrete terminals on the interface circuit. A conductive common electrode pad is associated with and electrically couples the common electrode of the sensor slide to a common electrode on the interface circuit. Apertures in the interface circuit expose the thin film to the environment. Resistance changes in a detectible manner upon exposure to sensible chemicals at ambient temperature, such as 1,2,2-Trimethylpropyl methylphosphonofluoridate (soman, GD), O-Ethyl S-(2-isopropylaminoethyl) methylphosphonothiolate (VX), distilled bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide (mustard, HD), carbonyl chloride, Phosgene (CG) and cyanogen chloride (CK), ozone, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, acetylene, propane, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, ethanol, methanol, volatile organic compounds and industrial toxic chemicals.

摘要: In a limited-current type gas sensor which detects oxygen-containing gas contained in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, the decomposition current value of water (H2O) may be detected, and existence of an abnormality of output characteristics of the sensor may be diagnosed based on its deviation from a reference decomposition current value of water corresponding to the concentration of water contained in the exhaust gas. A NOx sensor and a SOx sensor can also diagnose remarkable and minute abnormalities of output characteristics. In addition, the reference decomposition current value of water may be acquired based on the concentration of water detected by a separate humidity sensor or the decomposition current value of oxygen detected by the limited-current type gas sensor. The reference decomposition current value of water may be corrected based on a decomposition current value of oxygen detected during a fuel cut.

摘要: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine having a limiting current sensor includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: (i) calculate a parameter relating to SOx contained in a detection subject gas using an output current of the sensor obtained when voltage reduction control is implemented to reduce an applied voltage applied to the sensor from a parameter calculation voltage; and (ii) implement the voltage reduction control when an oxygen concentration of the detection subject gas is less than a predetermined concentration or a low oxygen concentration condition, according to which an oxygen concentration of the detection subject gas is predicted to be less than a predetermined concentration, is established.

摘要: A novel filter effectiveness detection method for AMCs (Airborne Molecular Contaminations) is provided herein, which is on-line, economical and applicable for diverse AMCs, using gas-to-particle conversion with soft X-ray irradiation radiation. In one embodiment, this method was conducted through AMC filter evaluations comparing two granular activated carbons (GACs), which are widely used AMC filter media, challenged with sulfur dioxide (SO2), which is one of the major known AMCs in cleanrooms. Using this method, the concentration of gaseous SO2 was assessed in terms of particle volume concentrations after the gas-to-particle conversion assisted by the soft X-ray irradiation. The results of this detection method showed high sensitivity to SO2, down to parts per trillion-levels, which are levels that are too low to be detectable by currently available commercial gas sensors.

摘要: To provide an SOx concentration detection device that can detect the SOx concentration in exhaust gas without using a dedicated sensor. As shown in FIG. 4, the current value that flows when a voltage in the limiting current region is applied stays at a constant value (limiting current value) regardless of the elapsed time. On the other hand, the current value that flows when a voltage in the overcurrent region is applied decreases with the lapse of time and approaches the limiting current value 30 seconds after the start of application of the voltage. In this embodiment, the current value difference is defined as “SO2 reduction current,” and the SO2 concentration around the sensor is detected from an integrated value of the SO2 reduction current.
