A current table of data and information is selected from the data with specific functions to be available in the assembly for franking postal matter in dependence on the one or more conditions. The system is also applicable to multi-carrier shipping. In that case, the control module selects available carriers for a certain shipping order, compares the individual carrier-specific data tables and provides a selection or at least a comparison with regard to the preferred shipping carrier.

    摘要: An improved electronic meter for accounting for funding and transaction information includes a micro control system for controlling the operation of the meter in response to an operation program. The micro control system utilizes a microprocessor in bus communication with a plurality of addressable memory units and input device in bus communication with the microprocessor. The meter has a first mode of operation for performing transactions and accounting for the transactions and a second mode of operation for accessing the accounting information in response to a first security code. At least one of the memory units has a plurality of accounting registers for storing the accounting information in predetermined categories. The meter has a third mode of operation for accessing the registers of the first memory and initializing the registers in response to the input of a second security code. The accounting information including a REINIT table for creating a selected number of records representative of the accounting information of the accounting register in the respective categories upon each initialization of the accounting registers. The operation program prevents the record from being overwritten once the respective record has been created and the meter is in the first, second or third mode.

The microprocessor can address each of the circuit registers and write a respective uppermost address in a respective one of the registers, the respective address corresponding to uppermost addressable registers of the respective addressable regions of the memory units.

    摘要: A postage meter control system includes a microcomputer having a programmable microprocessor. The microcomputer is in communication with a decoder integrated circuit (Decoder IC). The Decoder IC has a first write control flip-flop and a second write control flip-flop, as in the preferred embodiment there are redundant non-volatile memories. Each control flip-flop has an output to a respective AND gate. The Decoder IC includes a dual timer which has an output to the control flip-flops. As a result, when the microcomputer enters write routine, the timer releases the control flip-flops to allow the system to be write enabled. If the write routine encounters a error, resulting in the timer timing out, the timer resets the control flip-flop and communicates with the microcomputer to try a retry.     摘要: An electronic postage meter has two non-volatile memory devices, each of a different technology, CMOS battery-backed RAM and E.sup.2 PROM. The E.sup.2 PROM technology allows a limited number of rewrites. In order to provide real-time accounting in such a non-volatile memory over the life of the meter, a trip data counter is stored in a circular data store in addition to a separate account of other postage accounting data, including printwheel setting information. The trip data counter is used for calculations of postage meter register data. The separate account is updated at predetermined intervals using the trip counter data if necessary for data recovery.
