    摘要: A novel method of preparing a strong, non-glossy pigmented material comprises subjecting a composition comprising an ethylenically unsaturated polyester, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a peroxide catalyst to at least enough actinic light to gel the composition and coating the hardened polyester composition with a coating composition comprising an ethylenically unsaturated polyester, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, ultraviolet light absorbing pigment, and optionally an accelerator, and subjecting the coating to actinic light to cure the coating to a non-glossy pigmented material.

    摘要: A composition for cementing together metal parts which cures in the absence of air but the curing of which is inhibited by the presence of air comprises a mixture of A. 34.0 to 99.4 percent by weight of at least one acrylic acidor methacrylic acid ester formed with an alcohol of the formula R - C * (CH2OH)3 wherein R is alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms in the main chain, -CH2OH or -CH2O-CO-CnH2n 1 and wherein n 1 - 18; B. 0 - 65.4 percent by weight of A. AT LEAST ONE ACRYLIC ACID OR METHACRYLIC ACID ESTER FORMED WITH AN ALIPHATIC ALCOHOL OF 4 - 10 CARBON ATOMS IN THE MOLECULE, OR B. AT LEAST ONE ACRYLIC ACID OR METHACRYLIC ACID ESTER FORMED WITH A GLYCOL OR A POLYGLYCOL; C. AN UNSATURATED POLYESTER; OR D. A COMBINATION OF TWO OR MORE OF THE COMPOUNDS AT (A) (B) AND (C); C. 0.5 - 10 percent by weight of at least one organic hydroperoxide and D. 0.1 - 5 percent by weight of a tertiary amine or an alkylated amide of formic acid or acetic acid. The composition is adapted for cementing together particularly metal parts by self-curing upon exclusion of air while it is inhibited from curing as long as air or oxygen have access thereto.

    摘要: Presensitized printing plates are prepared by a process which comprises the steps of (1) coating a support with a radiationcurable composition, (2) placing a negative of the image to be printed on the coated support, (3) exposing the thus-formed system to radiation to effect polymerization of the exposed portion of the coating on the support and leaving the unexposed portion wet and uncured, (4) removing the negative, and (5) removing the uncured areas to produce an oleophilic image area and a hydrophilic non-image background. The radiation-curable composition comprises at least one isocyanate-modified polyethylenically unsaturated ester and at least one photoinitiator with optionally at least one polyethylenically unsaturated ester having free hydroxyl groups.

    摘要: Dental developmental pit and fissure sealant composition comprising component A composed essentially of a thermosetting resin of the formula:

    WHEREIN R1 is hydrogen or alkyl of one to four carbon atoms; and R is (CH2CH2-O)x wherein x is an integer of 1 to 5, and an accelerator for said resin; and component B composed in one embodiment essentially of a solution of a peroxide catalyst for the resin of A, and in an alternative embodiment including additional resin of A. The fissure sealant compositions disclosed have excellent surface tension characteristics, low viscosity, and good penetration ability. The sealant compositions are applied stepwise by first applying a drop of either component to a cleaned and primed surface of a tooth to be sealed, allowing it to penetrate for 30 seconds, then applying a drop of the other component, allowing the components to remain in contact with each other for two minutes, and then removing any excess unpolymerized material. In a preferred embodiment component A comprises diethyleneglycol dimethacrylate and N-bis(hydroxyethyl)-p-toluidine accelerator, and component B is comprised of diethyleneglycol dimethacrylate and benzoyl peroxide catalyst, the latter component being applied to the tooth first.
