Abstract:
A new and improved offset drive countersink apparatus is provided for connection to a rotary drive source and includes a first driven rotating member connected to the rotary drive source. The first driven rotating member rotates around a first longitudinal axis. A first gear is connected to the first driven rotating member, is driven thereby, and rotates around the first longitudinal axis. The first gear lies in a first plane. A second gear meshes with the first gear and also lies in the first plane. The second gear rotates around a second longitudinal axis. The first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis are offset from each other by a predetermined offset distance in the first plane. A housing receives the first gear and the second gear and supports the first gear and the second gear in the first plane. A countersink tool is connected to the second gear. The countersink tool is driven by the second gear and rotates around the second longitudinal axis at the predetermined offset distance offset from the first driven rotating member. The housing includes a bottom planar portion and a top planar portion that house and support the first gear and the second gear in the first plane. The housing also includes alignment apertures for keeping the first driven rotating member and the first gear in alignment and for keeping the second gear and the countersink tool in alignment.
Abstract:
An articulated axis workslide assembly having a bridge plate with an upper surface and first and second bridge keyways. The bridge keyways are oriented precisely parallel to one another and a first longitudinal axis, and first and second bridge keys are slidably mounted in respective bridge keyways for reciprocation parallel to the first axis. There is a combination swivel/slide member having a lower surface, a slide keyway and a pivot hole, and a slide key is slidably mounted in the slide keyway. The swivel/slide is slidably and pivotally connected and supported with its lower surface facing the upper surface of the bridge member along a single interface plane. Such connection is preferably provided in part through pivotal connection of the slide key to the first bridge key, and through the slide pivot hole to the second bridge key. Reciprocation of the first and second keys along their respective keyways precisely adjusts both the linear and pivotal position to the swivel/slide member relative to the bridge along the single interface plane.
Abstract:
An apparatus for peeling a layer from a surface, including a nonplanar surface such as the hull of a ship, comprises a rotatable substantially cylindrical support with at least two peeling knives projecting from an outer surface thereof. An annular guiding element surrounds each end of the substantially cylindrical support, and these annular guiding elements have different diameters. Preferably, the peeling knives are spaced unequally around the circumference of the substantially cylindrical support.
Abstract:
A first table (1) slidable leftwards and rightwards of a gear finishing machine and a second table (2) slidable forwards and rearwards of the machine are disposed in an overlapped relationship such that one of the tables is mounted on the top of the other table. Of these tables, the upper table is guided by a horizontal guide member (3) which is adapted to be rotated to any desired angular position and to be clamped at such position. A feed motor (5) drives the first table to slide. For sliding the table assembly along a diagonal direction, the angular position of the guide member is adjusted so that it extends along such direction.A horizontal stability of the table assembly is secured without employing a conventional parallel link mechanism. The table assembly is driven to slide so as to pass the center of machine so that an accuracy of gear finishing is assured.
Abstract:
A woodworking apparatus for forming arcuate and circular cuts in a workpiece, includes an elongate base on which an arm is slidably supported with a mounting plate at the outward end of the arm for supporting a router. The base has openings for affixation to a wood board or like workpiece using a woodscrew or similar fastener to define a rotational axis for unitary rotational movement of the base, arm, plate and router to form an arcuate or circular cut.
Abstract:
The present invention is a work piece holding device for use with a work table having a power tool positioned adjacent a work station on the work table. The holding device comprises a pedestal, an elongated arm having first and second opposite ends, a universal hinge connecting the first end of the arm to the pedestal for pivotal movement about both a horizontal and a vertical axis, and a handle on the second end of the arm. A work piece holding device is rotatably mounted to the arm intermediate the opposite ends thereof, and is adapted to rotate about a vertical axis. A crank handle is connected to the work piece holding device for causing the rotation of the holding device about its vertical rotational axis with respect to the arm.
Abstract:
A clamping arrangement to firmly clamp workpieces of variable shape to permit the workpieces to be processed on all peripheral sides includes a rotating platform and a clamping lever. The platform and the lever are separately mounted on the housing of the clamping arrangement. The lever is mounted on the housing by means of a column and a bearing part. The column is fixedly secured to the housing. The bearing part is rotatably and adjustably connected to the column to permit the bearing part to be located at various positions along the length of the column. The clamping lever is pivotably coupled to the bearing part and may be driven by fluid pressure operated cylinders between clamping and releasing positions. The clamping lever has two telescoping parts to permit the portion of the clamping lever which engages the workpiece to be radially adjustable with respect to the column. When the clamping lever is actuated, the workpiece is secured between a conical clamping peg at the free end of the clamping lever and supports on the rotating platform.
Abstract:
An improved arrangement by which a router may be accurately and inexpensively used to trim the edge of a laminate overlay flush with the edge of the underlying wooden member. It particularly comprises a guide fence having a relatively long straight edge interrupted centrally by a recess for the router bit, and provided with a rabbet into which the projecting edge of a rough trimmed laminate may project early in the edging process. The fence cooperates with a sub-base attachable to a router, and retains the versatility of the router for many usual applications.
Abstract:
A frame structure supports a work surface above which there is provided an elongated head number supporting a series of drills. A torque tube having an axis parallel to and spaced from a line passing through the series of drills is mounted to the frame structure for rotation about its axis. The drill head member is coupled to the torque tube such that rotation of the torque tube initially swings the head member in an arc and thereafter urges the head member through a lost motion coupling arrangement against a pair of spaced parallel guide rails, secured to the frame structure normal to the work surface so that the remaining travel of the drill head is rectilinear. The stiffness of the torque tube assures that one end of the elongated drill head will not move ahead or drop behind the other end so that all holes are drilled simultaneously.
Abstract:
An improved feeding and shaping assembly comprises an upper platform on a reciprocally driven support carriage with means providing pivotal and pendular or eccentric displacement of the upper platform relative to the support carriage, means for driving the support carriage, means for providing controlled linear guidance of the reciprocally driven support carriage and adjustable biasing means for urging the upper platform laterally with respect to the support carriage. In a preferred embodiment the pivotal displacement is provided by a plurality of pivot arms one end of each arm being attached to the upper platform and the opposite end to the support carriage.
