摘要: A three-dimensional mirror-image duplicating carver for producing a three-dimensional mirror-image of a three-dimensional object. First and second platforms are rotatably connected to a frame about spaced apart parallel first and second axes, respectively, and also parallel to the base. The platforms rotate equal and in opposite directions only to effect repositioning. A three-dimensional object to be duplicated in mirror image is attached to and positioned centrally on the first platform while a carvable workpiece is attached to and positioned centrally on the second platform. A support member includes a stylus and a carving tool having a carving tip spaced from the stylus a distance equal to the distance between the first and second axes and lying in a plane perpendicular to said base. By repeatedly tracing the stylus lengthwise along the object after the object and the workpiece are rotated, then held stationary at incremental angles of rotation through 360°, the carving tip removes successive narrow longitudinal slices of material from the workpiece producing the three-dimensional mirror image of the object.

摘要: The present invention is directed to enhancing the accuracy with which tooth restorations are performed, including the manner by which a tooth is prepared and fit with a dental prosthetic, such as a crown or bridge. Further, the present invention is directed to reducing the skill-dependent tasks associated with tooth restoration, including root canals, while at the same time, improving the precision with which these procedures are performed and by aesthetics of the prosthetic. By improving the accuracy of restoration procedures, any need to repeat these procedures for a given patient can be eliminated and patient comfort can be improved. In addition, by improving the precision with which a prosthetic is prepared for attachment to the prepared tooth of a patient, and/or fit to patient, durability and longevity of the prosthetic are improved. For example, when the interior of a prosthetic is not precisely fit to the prepared tooth of a patient, as in a case where the coping is undersized relative to the prepared tooth, buckling of the coping can occur. As a result, the buckling of the coping can cause the porcelain exterior of the prosthetic to crack. Because exemplary embodiments of the present invention provide a precise and accurate fit, they avoid such buckling of the prosthetic's interior, and therefore, improve the longevity of the prosthetic.

摘要: A system for the machining of work pieces, particularly the abrading of die rolls for a tube reducing mill, where the work piece and the master pattern or cam are mounted for rotation on a common shaft and moved relative to a master follower and rotating tool, respectively, with this relative movement being biased translation with only the angle of the translation varying with respect to the axis of rotation for causing the follower to traverse the entire control surface of the master and correspondingly cause the tool to duplicate the master control surface in the work piece. The follower and tool are mounted on a common table, which table is mounted with respect to a base for only translation, that is, the table will not rotate with respect to the separately mounted master and work piece. A slide mechanism allowing only translation of the table is rotated independently of the table to traverse the direction of table translation through an angle of 180*. Elements are provided to bias the table in the direction of translation so that with the 180* rotation of the slide, the follower will traverse the entire control surface of the master, in one plane. The master is rotated about an axis parallel above-mentioned the abovementioned plane so that its entire three dimensional surface will be engaged by the follower.

摘要: A system for automatically controlling the feedrate of a milling machine includes a sensor which measures the actual milling force exerted on the cutting element thereof during the milling process. If the actual milling force exceeds a pre-set reference force, a controller supplies a control signal to the feedrate control circuits within the milling machine to appropriately modify the feedrate. A sensor housing for cutter drawbar machines includes a spindle adapter which is interposed between the spindle and cutting element and which has disposed thereon a plurality of strain gauges disposed in a bridge arrangement. The outputs of the bridges correspond to either spindle deflection or spindle torque. The controller may include an integral control function which operates on an error signal obtained from the comparison of the pre-set reference and the actual milling forces.
