Abstract:
A device for feeding materials to be shaped to a shaping tool comprises a rotatable platform supported from its under side. In one embodiment, the device is provided with guide and biasing means which cooperates to provide reciprocal motion to the platform. A piece of shaped material which shape is to be reproduced on a material workpiece is attached to the platform. A guide member is maintained in abutment with the surface of the shaped material while a shaping tool maintained at a fixed distance from the guide member reproduces the shaped surface on the material workpiece.
Abstract:
A machine having first and second carriages mounted for horizontal reciprocation on opposite end portions of a track, with a rotary support on each carriage and an adjustable lever between them for moving the second carriage back and forth in response to reciprocation of the first carriage and in a ratio determined by the adjustment of the lever. A motor rotates the support on the first carriage while correspondingly, and reversibly, rotating the second. The first carriage is springurged toward a follower so that the combined rotary and reciprocating motion will move a pattern on the support to cause the follower to traverse the periphery of the pattern, and corresponding relative motion is produced at the other support between a workpiece and a shaping tool. The tools are adjustable relative to the axes of rotation, and a modified embodiment mounts the follower and the tool for either identical or generally proportional vertical movement for three-dimensional reproduction.
Abstract:
A rotatable and reciprocating device for supplying material workpieces to be shaped to a shaping tool comprises a platform to which the workpieces are attached, a template disposed adjacent the platform, a guide member abutting the template, and a biasing means cooperating with the platform for constantly maintaining the template and guide member in abutment. In one embodiment, the guide member or template are attached to an axle for the rotatable platform while the other of these members is secured to a stationary member. In another embodiment, a plurality of template surfaces are attached directly to the platform and arranged in a vertical stack relative to the platform surface or arranged horizontally thereon. A further embodiment includes a pivotal carriage.
Abstract:
An improved feeding and shaping assembly comprises an upper platform on a reciprocally driven support carriage with means providing pivotal and pendular or eccentric displacement of the upper platform relative to the support carriage, means for driving the support carriage, means for providing controlled linear guidance of the reciprocally driven support carriage and adjustable biasing means for urging the upper platform laterally with respect to the support carriage. In a preferred embodiment the pivotal displacement is provided by a plurality of pivot arms one end of each arm being attached to the upper platform and the opposite end to the support carriage.
Abstract:
An improved device for feeding materials to a working tool comprises a platform having linear and transverse guide means and biasing means for urging the platform toward a working tool. These means are attached to the platform underside whereby the upper side of the platform is unencumbered and on which upper side materials to be worked or shaped are attached or secured. In one embodiment transverse motion of the platform is provided by guide means extending perpendicular to the normal axis of the linear guide means; in a second embodiment eccentric or oscillating motion is provided by a plurality of discs incorporating offset spindles.
