摘要： An aerodynamic trimmer head assembly for use in flexible line rotary trimmers including a trimmer head having a curvilinear upper head surface and a shroud having a curvilinear portion extending over the head surface. A plurality of ribs extend downwardly and forwardly in the direction of rotation between the head surface and shroud defining a plurality of channels extending between portions of the upper head surface and shroud along curvilinear paths defined by the ribs. The channels define inlet openings in an upper portion of the shroud and outlet openings about the lower end portion thereof. During rotation of the head and shroud, air is drawn downwardly about the drive mechanism, through the channel inlets, into and through the channels and outwardly therefrom at a forward inclination about the line projecting from the housing thereby cooling the drive mechanism of the rotary trimmer and reducing aerodynamic drag on the line.

摘要： An improved head for a vegetation trimmer has a drop-down line reservoir that remains in cooperation with the head housing when the reservoir is in a load position. The reservoir fits inside the head housing and is biased against the housing for secure use. The reservoir is rotated to unlock it from the housing, whereby it drops down to allow access to the line in the reservoir. A user can add, remove, and manipulate line as desired without the inconvenience of detachable pieces. The reservoir can be pushed back into the housing and locked into place for use. The reservoir can also be placed in an advance position and rotated to advance more line through line openings in the housing as needed.

摘要： A trimmer head for a rotary line trimmer including a housing operatively connected to the trimmer and a spool for carrying cutting line thereon. The spool is operatively connected to the housing for rotation therewith and defines a pair of opposed line receptor channels having opposed open ends, traversing opposed portions of the spool and defining opposed outlet openings above a lowermost end of the spool. The channels can be aligned with the eyelets in the housing skirt such that lengths of cutting line can be inserted therethrough and wrapped about the spool upon relative rotation of the spool and housing without having to interrupt the operative connection therebetween. The channel outlet openings provide access to the inner ends of the line so that the line also can be pulled from the head without having to interrupt the operative connection therebetween.

摘要： A holder for a monofilament line used in a vegetation cutter, such as a grass trimmer or lawnmower, is divided into four quadrants and has a series of clips between each quadrant through which the monofilament line is woven for being held on the holder. The periphery of each quadrant is an arc slightly off center from the radial center of the holder, thereby creating a protrusion on the direction of rotation side of the clip area. This protrusion maintains hard objects, such as stones, away from the holder periphery on the other side of the clip area, thereby preventing the hard object from shearing off the monofilament line. In order to reduce the weight of the holder, recesses are formed on both sides thereof and the ground facing side recesses are angled to avoid the entrapment of grass in the holder. When the holder is used with an impeller type hovering lawnmower, the diameter thereof is made substantially the same as the diameter of the impeller to act as a shield for the impeller against abrasion.
