Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for truncated identification indicators. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a truncating configuration for an identification indicator. The truncating configuration may indicate a set of bits within an initial identification indicator to remove to generate a truncated identification indicator. The UE may remove the indicated set of bits and transmit the truncated identification indicator to a base station. The base station may receive the truncated identification indicator and reconstruct the initial identification indicator according to the truncating configuration. The base station may reconstruct the initial identification indicator by adding the set of bits (e.g., removed by the UE to generate the truncated identification indicator) to the truncated identification indicator.

Abstract: A UE may receive, from at least one cell via at least one bit in a MIB or a SIB, a barring indication based on a supported network of the at least one cell and a supported network of the UE. The supported network of the at least one cell may correspond to a TN or an NTN, and the supported network of the UE may correspond to a TN or an NTN. The UE may skip, based on the received barring indication, a selection of the at least one cell for communication. Accordingly, the UE may not camp on the at least one cell. The barring indication for NTN-supporting UEs and for TN-supporting UEs may be separately indicated via the MIB or the SIB.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving a group wake-up signal (WUS) in conjunction with an ungrouped WUS. A base station may group one or more UEs in a UE group, while other UEs may not be assigned to a UE group. The configuration of WUS resources and WUS sequences for grouped UEs and other UEs is a challenge. The base station may transmit, to one or more UEs in the UE group, a resource allocation of a group WUS resource within a set of WUS resources associated with a paging occasion that is assigned to the one or more UEs in the UE group. A UE, after receiving the resource allocation, may determine a location of the group WUS resource within the set of WUS resources. The UE may monitor for a group WUS at the determined location in the resource allocation of the group WUS resource.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine a UE capability for available radio access technologies. The UE may determine which of the available radio access technologies are suitable for idle cell reselection (e.g., inter-radio access technology idle cell reselection, intra-radio access technology idle cell reselection) according to the UE capabilities, which may be related to a UE category or UE usage mode (e.g., voice centric mode, data centric mode) of the UE, etc. The UE may transmit a signal indicating the UE capabilities to a network entity (e.g., a serving cell). The network entity may receive the signaling and determine suitable radio access technologies for the idle cell reselection, and transmit a set of parameters in a message for the UE to use as part of the idle cell reselection.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine that a channel, such as a downlink channel or an uplink channel, and a positioning reference signal (PRS) occasion are scheduled for a common set of resources, such as a common frequency, a common time, and/or the like. This may result in the UE being unable to receive the PRS and/or process the PRS as a result of receiving the channel. In some aspects, the UE may determine that a PRS collides with a channel, and may perform a collision response action, such as dropping at least a portion of the channel, based at least in part on determining that the PRS occasion collides with the channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a physical channel such as a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH) to supplement (e.g., or as an alternative to) reference signal measurements when determining a received signal measurement, such as a received signal strength or received signal quality of a cell. A base station may transmit an indication to a UE that identifies the frequency at which a portion of NPBCH transmissions (e.g., reserved fields of a master information block (MIB)) is expected to change from one NPBCH transmission to another. The UE may adjust its utilization of NPBCH for determining the received signal measurement based on the indication. Further, the UE may communicate with the cell based on the determination of the received signal measurement, which are based on the indication.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first information element (IE) and a second IE, wherein the first IE indicates whether all UEs that do not support cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting are barred from a carrier and the second IE indicates whether all UEs that support CRS muting are barred from the carrier; and selectively access the carrier based at least in part on at least one of the first IE or the second IE. In some aspects, a UE may determine whether the UE supports cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting; and transmit, to a base station, a capability report that indicates whether the UE supports CRS muting. Abstract: Techniques described herein use a wakeup signal to indicate to a user equipment (UE) whether an upcoming control channel signal resource includes information relevant to the UE. In this way, the UE can wake up to perform complex control channel signal processing only when the control channel includes signals relevant to the UE, thereby conserving battery power and resources of the UE. Such techniques are particularly suited to MTC UEs, NB-IoT UEs, and/or the like, which may communicate with a network only occasionally, and which may be located in remote locations where changing or recharging a battery is difficult.
