Abstract:
Certain embodiments are directed to cyanate resin blends comprising, for example, a mixture of a cyanate monomer and a cyanate oligomer. The resin blends are effective to provide a dielectric constant of less than 2.7, a glass transition temperature of at least 150° C. and a moisture absorption of less than 1.5%. Radomes using the resin are also described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to transparent composites having anti-fogging properties and anti-fog coating compositions for providing anti-fogging properties. The anti-fogging layers can contain an adhesive polymer, a hard polymer, and a hydrophilic polymer, wherein the adhesive polymer, hard polymer, and hydrophilic polymers are different. In further embodiments, composites are described including a substrate layer; a first adhesive layer; a first transparent layer; a second adhesive layer; a second transparent layer; and an anti-fog layer.
Abstract:
A valve is disclosed and can include a valve body having a central bore for passage of fluid there through and a longitudinal axis. The valve can also include a seal installed within the valve body along the central bore. The seal can include a first seal member having an annular ring portion and a hub portion extending from the annular ring portion. The seal can also include a second seal member including an annular ring configured to engage a distal end of the hub portion and create a sealing engagement between the hub portion and the annular ring when a compressive force is applied to the first and the second seal members.
Abstract:
A multilayer laminate for a photovoltaic device includes a barrier polymer layer. The barrier polymer layer includes a fluoropolymer layer disposed on a polyester layer. A polymeric support layer is disposed on the polyester layer of the barrier polymer layer and a conductive layer is disposed on the polymeric support layer. The conductive layer includes a copper layer disposed on an aluminum layer.
Abstract:
A torque limiting assembly is disclosed and can include a generally cylindrical bearing and a tolerance ring disposed around the generally cylindrical bearing. The torque limiting assembly is configured to be installed between and rotatably couple an inner and an outer component. The torque limiting assembly is configured to rotate with respect to at least one of the inner and outer components when a threshold torque, T, is exceeded.
Abstract:
A flexible tube includes a polymer composition of a poly vinyl chloride having a molecular weight greater than about 1.0 inherent viscosity (IV) and a bio-based plasticizer. Further, a method of forming a flexible tube is provided. The method includes compounding a poly vinyl chloride having a molecular weight greater than about 1.0 inherent viscosity (IV) with a bio-based plasticizer to form a polymer composition and extruding the polymer composition into the flexible tube.
Abstract:
An article includes a polymeric blend of a polyolefin, a styrenic based block copolymer, and a plasticizer, wherein the article has a cold temperature brittleness point of at least about −80° C., such as at least about −90° C., or even as low as about −110° C., as measured by ASTM D746. In an embodiment, the article is a flexible tube.
Abstract:
A method for forming a material having an individually stabilized ply includes providing a ply having a non-orthogonal orientation. A stabilizing agent is then applied to maintain the orientation of the ply. The stabilizing agent could alternately be applied before forming the ply. The ply may be woven in a non-orthogonal orientation, or may have its orientation changed to the final non-orthogonal orientation. Changing may occur over multiple steps and may include using an accumulator and/or payout station to change the orientation.
