    摘要: A technique for performing a time slot interchange in a processor. The TSI process is surrounded by a multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit for converting a plurality of PCM highways into a single input serial data stream. The mux/demux circuit includes elastic stores to align frames and shift resisters to mux/demux with a minimum of delay. The TSI processor includes an input and an output buffered series port, a pair of input buffers, one to receive even-numbered frames from the PCM highways and one to receive odd-numbered frames, and an output buffer. Data is read from the appropriate input buffer in a non-sequential fashion as commanded by the processor in accordance with information stored in connection arrays (address buffers). The data is then written to the output buffer sequentially. The timing of the reading and writing steps is optimized relative to free running buffered serial port pointers for each BSP to reduce the frame delay.

    摘要: A time:space:time switch fabric incorporating an odd integer number of spatially distributed data switches and a plurality of spatially distributed data serializers. Each data switch has a first plurality of ingress ports, an equal plurality of egress ports, and a space switch for selectably interconnecting any one of the ingress ports to any one of the egress ports. Each data serializer has an input bus for receiving signals to be routed through the switch fabric, an output bus for outputting signals routed through the switch fabric, a plurality of egress ports selectably connectible to any one of the data switch ingress ports, and an equal plurality of ingress ports selectably connectible to any one of the data switch egress ports.     摘要: A method and a TDM digital switch are provided for switching data at a variety of data rates. Input streams having a data rate less than the maximum data rate of the switch are grouped and multiplexed to form multiplexed streams carrying data at the maximum data rate. A switching state machine switches the data from each input stream to form grouped output streams comprising multiplexed output streams, each grouped output stream carrying data at the maximum data rate. The grouped output streams are demultiplexed, and the output streams transmitted through respective output shift registers. The method and TDM digital switch allow streams with programmable data rates to be switched while still maximizing use of resources, including memory, within the switch.
