摘要: A skin-stiffener transition assembly (1) with a skin (4) and two L-shaped fiber-reinforced fabric preforms (2, 3) for a flange and a composite gusset filler (5) integrated between said skin (4) and said two L-shaped fiber-reinforced fabric preforms (2, 3). The skin (4) comprises two separate skin layers (7, 8) and the flange comprises a flange layer (6), each of said skin layers (7, 8) and said flange layer (6) being provided with cut outs (9, 10) along one side. Said skin layers (7, 8) and the flange layer (6) are attached to the composite gusset filler (5) with at least one of its cut-outs (9, 10) to one side of the essentially polygonal cross section of the composite gusset filler (5) and with at least one of its adjacent cut-outs (9, 10) to another side of the essentially polygonal cross section of the composite gusset filler (5). The present invention relates as well to a method of manufacture of said skin-stiffener transition assembly (1) and to applications of said skin-stiffener transition assembly (1).

摘要: An assembly including a polymeric member and a unitary metal casting wherein the metal casting relatively moveably captures the polymeric member on the metal casting. The assembly can be adapted for use as a crank arm in a transmission shift mechanism. In some embodiments of the assembly, the polymeric member includes an opening defining a rotational axis of said polymeric member. The metal casting extends into the opening and includes at least one enlarged diameter portion with the polymeric member being rotationally disposed on the metal casting and axially captured on the metal casting by the at least one enlarged diameter portion of the metal casting. A method of manufacture is also disclosed.

摘要: A vacuum insulation panel (VIP) in an example comprises first and second walls and a plurality of tensile elements. The first and second walls are structurally coupled to allow formation of a vacuum cavity between the first and second walls. The plurality of tensile elements structurally supports the first and second walls against external pressure contemporaneous with tension on the plurality of tensile elements. The plurality of tensile elements is located in the vacuum cavity between the first and second walls.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for a composite structural material. A non-solid composite section that is filled with a structural foam that reduces the weight of the composite structural material. A solid composite section that is coupled to the non-solid composite section. The solid composite section is an area for structural attachment for the composite structural material. A region adjoining the non-solid composite section to the composite section is radiused to reduce stress when the structural foam is bonded to the region. The radius in the region prevents delamination and cracking of the structural foam when a load is placed on the composite structural material.
