Abstract:
Improved booking drive mechanism for vertically extending mold presses such as SRIM mold presses. Opening and closing of the booking plate relative to its associated moveable ram are actuated by a pair of horizontally disposed hydraulic cylinders. Tension pulleys carried by the extendable pistons of the cylinders are trained around cables that connect the booking plate to the ram. When the pulleys are retracted into their cylinder housings, tension or pull on the cables causes the booking plate to move about a fulcrum to a closed position. Conversely, horizontal extension of the pistons away from the cylinders causes opening pivotal movement of the booking plate about the fulcrum thereby separating the booking plate from the ram.
Abstract:
A mold press includes an upper mold carrier mounted to slide up and down along an upright mold press frame and to rotate about a horizontal rotation axis. The mold press frame is supported on a mold press base to tip forward and aft about a horizontal upper mold pivot axis disposed parallel to and below the rotation axis. A lower mold carrier is supported on the mold press base below the upper mold carrier and above the upper mold pivot axis. The lower mold carrier includes a lower mold mounting plate that is pivotally supported on the mold press base for tipping motion along a hinged edge about a lower mold pivot axis that lies parallel to and below the rotation axis and above the upper mold pivot axis. An electronic motion controller may be programmed to coordinate the reciprocating, tipping and rotating motions to accommodate a variety of mold/retainer configurations. The motion controller may be also be programmed to move the upper mold carrier and an attached upper mold portion into ergonomically optimum positions that meet different operations' needs.
Abstract:
A mold assembly for manufacturing an outsole includes a female mold, a first male mold pivotally connected to a side of the male mold and a second male mold pivotally connected to an end of the male mold. A peripheral wall defining the cavity has a separating flange extending inwardly therefrom. Each of the first male mold and the second male mole has at least one protrusion extending therefrom through which at least one passage is defined. The protrusion of the first male mold is inserted into the cavity and an outer surface of the protrusion abuts the separating flange. The first protrusion and the second protrusion are inserted into the cavity in sequence and material is injected into the cavity via the passages.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for producing thermoplastic containers, in particular bottles, by the blow-molding or stretch blow-molding of a preheated preform. The device comprises at least one mould consisting of two half-molds (2) each supported by a mould carrier, the two mould carriers being movable relative to each other. Each half-mould (2) comprises a shell holder (9), supported by the respective mould carrier, and a shell (7) which is equipped with a half-impression (8) of the container to be obtained and can be rendered integral in a detachable manner with its shell holder (9) by rapid-fastening means (19-23). The shell (7) and the shell holder (9) are of complementary shapes such that they contact each other at least partially for heat conduction purposes whilst the pipes and connections for circulating and/or heating fluids are provided in the shell holder alone.
Abstract:
The starting end and the finishing end of a seam extruded onto a sheet of glass, for example a windshield of an automobile, are joined to complete an edge gasket. A separate supplementary mold receives part of the glass containing the ends of the seam, and a compatible polymerizable composition is poured into the mold to complete the gasket.
Abstract:
Molding a foamed product is carried out by using a front and a rear mold for molding a front and a rear portion of the foamed product and a core interposed between the front and rear molds. The front and rear molds are closed at a moment when a lapse of time arrives at 30%-100% of a rise time of the foaming stock solution later applied. Thereafter the closed molds are maintained in a position where an angle of the closed molds relative to a horizontal plane is within a range between 90.degree. and an angle more than 0.degree.. The front and rear molds are pivotally connected to each other with their one ends by means of a pivot shaft. The core is pivotally supported with its one end by a shaft arranged in parallel to the pivot shaft. The core is formed with a through-hole and said rear mold is provided with a protrusion to be hermetically fitted in the through-hole of the core.
Abstract:
An apparatus for manufacture of laminated panels having a foamed plastics core material includes an inclined press having a fixed platen surface and a movable platen surface hinged adjacent its lower edge. Panel thickness is adjustable by a mechanism which moves the hinge pivot relative to fixed platen surface. The platen surfaces are clamped at their upper edges by spaced clamps operable by lever and crank assemblies. A retractable seal spacer has liquid plastics injection nozzles and gas venting tubes in fluid communication with a hollow cavity in the press.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to the manufacture of plastic tubing exemplified by corrugated plastic tile and parts related thereto, in which molds for shaping an extrudable plastic material are caused to shuttle linearly forwardly and rearwardly with respect to an extruding source of said plastic material. Sequentially related to linear mold movement is opening and closing mold action, which is correlated to the discharge of plastic material from the extruding source thereof. Provision is also made herein during the course of linear mold movement for parking one or more predetermined molds at a location spaced from the extruding source.
Abstract:
An overlay molding press which includes a pair of oppositely disposed jaw members. Each jaw member is provided with an elongate shoulder extending therealong and each jaw member has a forming surface extending its length with an edge of the surface at the shoulder of the jaw member. The forming surfaces of the two jaw members collectively form a mold cavity. The jaw members are rockable about an axis extending where their shoulders meet to produce a folding together of their forming surfaces and a decrease in the lateral dimension of the mold cavity.
