Abstract:
A process of preparing a complexed fat composition in a continuous process is provided. The process comprises mixing a cyclodextrin with a solvent in an in-line mixing system at a temperature of from about 180 to about 200° F. (82.2 to about 93.3° C.), thereby solubilizing the cyclodextrin; mixing fat and the solubilized cyclodextrin in a static mixer mixing system at a temperature of from about 80 to about 120° F. (26.7 to about 48.9° C.) to form a fat/cyclodextrin composition comprising a fat/cyclodextrin complex; and cooling the fat/cyclodextrin composition in an in-line mixing system. The described continuous process is a very efficient manner of complexing fat with cyclodextrin, and provides compositions that exhibit excellent uniformity and homogeneity.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a shelf stable food product. The product comprises a continuous aqueous phase, liquid oil droplets dispersed in the continuous aqueous phase, and protein coated gas bubbles. The continuous aqueous phase constitutes from 20% to 80% by volume (or weight) of the food product and the liquid oil droplets and protein coated gas bubbles are from 0.5 μm to 10 μm in diameter. The protein comprises cysteine amino acid residues, but is not a hydrophobin. The invention also discloses a method of forming an aqueous dispersion of protein coated gas bubbles suitable for forming the above food product. The method comprises dissolving a protein capable of forming coated gas bubbles in water with stirring, sonicating the protein solution at a temperature below but within 6° C. of the protein's denaturation temperature in the presence of oxygen, and controlling the temperature within these limits. Any protein debris from the resultant dispersion of protein coated gas bubbles is separated out.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to the use of alternan as a texturizing agent, particularly as a fat or oil replacer in foodstuffs or cosmetic preparations, a homogeneous composition comprising alternan and water, the use of the homogenous composition as a texturizing agent in foodstuffs or cosmetic preparations, and foodstuffs and cosmetic preparations comprising alternan as a texturizing agent or a homogeneous composition comprising alternan.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to liquid and powdered compositions as well as emulsions comprising whey protein and lipid, particularly fish oil, suitable for enrichment of a variety of food articles and beverages with poly unsaturated fatty acids like omega-3 fatty acids. The composition may also be consumed as such. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process of preparing such compositions and emulsions. The main feature of the process of the present invention, is that the microencapsulation of the lipid is made simultaneously with the microparticulation of the protein. A composition having superior properties in terms of taste and stability, is provided by the present invention.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to nutritional products containing hydroxytyrosol, particularly fond products (i.e: fortified edible oils and fortified edible oil-containing products) and dietary supplements (i.e.: soft gel capsules containing fortified edible oils) with increased antioxidant capacity to be used as a source of hydroxytyrosol for preventing or treating cardiovascular diseases, plaque build-up in the arteries, arterial hypertension, and metabolic syndrome, thanks to the nutritional supply of an hydroxytyrosol rich composition.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a method for plating copper into features formed on a semiconductor substrate. The method includes positioning the substrate in a plating cell, wherein the plating cell includes a catholyte volume containing a catholyte solution, an anolyte volume containing an anolyte solution, an ionic membrane positioned to separate the anolyte volume from the catholyte volume, and an anode positioned in the anolyte volume. The method further includes applying a plating bias between the anode and the substrate, plating copper ions onto the substrate from the catholyte solution, and replenishing the copper ions plated onto the substrate from the catholyte solution with copper ions transported from the anolyte solution via the ionic membrane, wherein the catholyte solution has a copper concentration of greater than about 51 g/L.
Abstract:
The invention provides compositions for an administration to a mammal orally or in a suppository that include one or more edible oils (preferably including one or more omega-3 fatty acids), one or more plant stanols, phytosterols, or esters thereof, and admixed in the one or more edible oils one or more water-soluble vitamins and/or minerals, for example, vitamins B6, B9 and/or B12. The invention also provides a method of making the compositions comprising mixing the foregoing components to form a suspension or emulsion of the vitamins and/or minerals in the edible oils. The mixture can be inserted into hollow soft or hard capsules, gelcaps or caplets. The edible oils can coat particles of the water-soluble vitamins and/or minerals, which may provide them with an improved absorption in the body due to an increased resistance to degradation in the acidic environment of the stomach.
Abstract:
The present invention provides oral dosage compositions, and methods of making thereof, which contain an edible oil, preferably containing an omega-3 fatty acid, and admixed therein one or more water soluble vitamins and/or minerals, for example vitamins B6, B9, and/or B12. The present invention also provides a method of making the composition comprising mixing the edible oil and one or more water-soluble vitamins and/or minerals to form a suspension or emulsion of the water-soluble vitamins and/or minerals in the edible oil. The mixture can be inserted into capsules, gelcaps, or caplets for oral consumption. An additional aspect of the invention is that the edible oil can coat particles of the water-soluble vitamins and/or minerals, which may preferably provide the vitamins and/or minerals improved absorption in the body due to increased resistance to degradation in the acidic environment of the stomach.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the chemical composition of an electroplating bath solution used to plate a plurality of substrates by providing the electroplating bath solution to a small-volume plating cell configured to minimize additive breakdown, and discarding the electroplating bath after a predetermined bath lifetime. The method includes predetermining a lifetime of an electroplating bath solution having a desired chemical composition, combining a plurality of electroplating bath solution components thereby forming the electroplating bath solution having the desired chemical composition, filling a small-volume plating cell with the electroplating bath solution, plating a plurality of substrates in the electroplating bath solution until the bath lifetime is reached; and discarding the electroplating bath solution after the bath lifetime is reached.
