    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently determining appropriate uplink frequencies for uplink transmissions to a satellite. As described herein, a wireless communications system may support a closed loop frequency correction scheme where a satellite may provide an uplink frequency correction to a user equipment (UE) such that the UE may be able to identify an appropriate uplink frequency for an uplink transmission. In some implementations, the UE may first transmit an uplink signal to the satellite on an initial uplink frequency, and the satellite may determine a corrected uplink frequency for the UE based on the initial uplink frequency. The satellite may then transmit an indication of the corrected uplink frequency to the UE, and the UE may transmit a second uplink signal based on the corrected uplink frequency.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications that support upstream timing control mechanisms for non-terrestrial networks are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for wireless communications from a user equipment (UE) in wireless communication with a satellite. A gateway in the non-terrestrial networks may receive an upstream transmission from the UE in wireless communication with the satellite and determine a timing adjustment for a second upstream transmission from the UE based on the upstream transmission from the UE. The gateway may then transmit to the UE in a group control information message or a dedicated physical channel message, a timing command indicating the timing adjustment for the second upstream transmission. The UE may receive the second timing adjustment and transmit data over the second upstream transmission using the second timing adjustment.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to allocating control signaling resources for multiple carrier scenarios. In an example implementation, N-to-1 mapping is used between forward link control signaling resource allocation indices (e.g., control channel elements) and return link control signaling resources (e.g., for ACK/NACK signaling) indices in each return link component carrier. A collision between forward link control signaling assignments for different user terminals (UTs) may occur when UT-specific search spaces overlap each other. Such a collision may be avoided, for example, by scheduling different UTs on different return link component carriers, scheduling return link grants instead of forward link grants, or scheduling a different forward link control signaling candidate that is associated with a different forward link control signaling resource allocation index.

    Abstract: An apparatus, e.g., a UE, for transmission of information modulated onto RSs using index modulation is disclosed. The UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration of one or more RS resources of an RS resource set. The one or more RS resources may be associated with an index modulation technique including a plurality of UL or DL information bits. The UE may transmit, to the base station, or receive, from the base station, the plurality of UL or DL information bits. The plurality of UL or DL information bits may include at least one of one or more first bits or one or more second bits. At least one of the one or more RS resources may be selected based on at least one of the one or more first bits or the one or more second bits.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a base station may configure a set of transmission parts each including different sets of time domain resources or different sets of frequency domain resources, or both, and may specify a waveform type for each of the set of transmission parts. In some examples, the base station may configure the set of transmission parts for a user equipment (UE) and, accordingly, the UE and the base station may communicate over a transmission part of the set of transmission parts via signaling that is based on a waveform type that is associated with the transmission part over which the UE and the base station communicate. The base station may control over which transmission part of the set of transmission parts the UE and the base station communicate via a configured timer or via explicit activation and deactivation signaling.
