Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may identify a bearer (e.g., a default bearer) and request establishment of a second bearer (e.g., a high priority bearer) for use in streaming downlink data from, for example, an application server. The UE may determine a status of a playout buffer and select the first bearer or the second bearer for use in streaming the downlink data associated with the application based on the status of the playout buffer. For example, the first bearer may be used be used by default, and the second bearer may be selected if the amount of data in the playout buffer does not satisfy (e.g., is below) a threshold. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with a transmission control protocol (TCP) port associated with a TCP connection. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with different Internet protocol (IP) address.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques that may be applied, for example, in a multi-slice network for maintaining privacy when attempting to access the network. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting a registration request message to a serving network to register with the serving network; receiving a first confirmation message indicating a secure connection with the serving network has been established; transmitting, after receiving the first confirmation message, a secure message to the serving network comprising an indication of at least one configured network slice that the UE wants to communicate over, wherein the at least one configured network slice is associated with a privacy flag that is set; and receiving a second confirmation message from the serving network indicating that the UE is permitted to communicate over the at least one configured network slice.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) (e.g., an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)) may receive an approved flight plan including approved flight plan sectors. The UE may also receive a query from a network node, the query including an indication of a subset of the plurality of approved flight plan sectors and a request for a plurality of waypoints of the UE within the indicated subset of the plurality of approved flight plan sectors. The UE may further determine, in response to receiving the query from the network node, a flight path including the plurality of waypoints of the UE for the indicated subset of the plurality of approved flight plan sectors based on the received approved flight plan, and the UE may transmit, to the network node, a flight declaration message including the waypoints of the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method of operating a user equipment for wireless communication with a network. In some aspects, the UE establishes a connection to a network and obtains a control plane message from the network. The control plane message may include one or more types of policy information if a size of the one or more types of policy information is less than or equal to a maximum payload size of the control plane message, or information indicating at least a network location from where the one or more types of policy information may be obtained by the UE over a user plane if the size of the one or more types of policy information is greater than the maximum payload size of the control plane message, or a combination thereof. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

A wireless communications system may support techniques for efficient communication between a user equipment (UE) and different entities (or functions) of a core network. Specifically, the UE may interact with a single entity (or function) of a core network (e.g., an access and mobility management function (AMF)), and messages intended for other entities (or functions) may be routed appropriately by this entity. For example, an AMF may receive a message from a UE intended for another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the entity (or function). Similarly, the AMF may receive a message from another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the UE.

Abstract: Systems and techniques enable an improved network selection procedure. Providers maintain preferred networks lists provisioned to UEs. The preferred networks lists include WLAN RATs, and for each entry coverage area and type of supported services. UEs include multiple credentials for connectivity via providers and potentially multiple transceivers supporting multiple active services. A UE triggers a network selection procedure whenever a new service is initiated. A credential is selected. The UE builds a list of network/RAT combinations from preferred networks lists and filters this list, removing entries that do not support the new service. The UE takes the context of the UE into consideration, further filtering the list. The remaining entries are scanned and a network/RAT combination selected. The UE determines whether registering with the selected network/RAT combination causes an interruption to an ongoing service. If not, the UE registers on the selection. If so, the UE engages in interruption resolution.

Abstract: Connectionless data transfer is disclosed. Authentication of a device and network node may be performed when data is sent from the device to an application server of an application service provider via a selected network. The transfer of data may take place in an absence of an existing device context between the network node interacting with the device and the core network through which the data travels. State management overhead and signaling overhead may be reduced by use of the exemplary aspects disclosed herein. For example, the device does not need to perform an authentication and key agreement (AKA) procedure to transfer the data and an existing (or pre-existing) device context need not be maintained at the core network.
