Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for communication comprise determining whether a communication characteristic value meets or exceeds a communication characteristic threshold value. Additionally, the methods and apparatus comprise adjusting a retransmission request transmission rate when the communication characteristic value meets or exceeds the communication characteristic threshold value. Moreover, the methods and apparatus comprise sending a retransmission request to a network entity based on the adjusted retransmission request transmission rate.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for wireless communication include applying a compression algorithm to a data flow, and evaluating a level of compression of the data flow resulting from the applying of the compression algorithm. Further aspects include determining when the level of compression of the data flow is below a first threshold, and disabling compression of the data flow when the level of compression is below the first threshold. Additional aspects include determining when the level of compression of the data flow is above a second threshold, and enabling compression of the data flow when the level of compression is above the second threshold, wherein the second threshold is greater than the first threshold.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods of controlling call establishment are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine to establish a call. In an aspect, the UE may detect a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) access node and receive, from a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) access node, WWAN load-related information. Based on UE call establishment rules and the WWAN load-related information, the UE may determine whether to establish the call on the WWAN access node or the WLAN access node. In another aspect, the UE may determine WLAN access node characteristics associated with a received signal from a WLAN access node. The UE may forward a call establishment request, including the WLAN access node characteristics to a WWAN access node. The UE may receive a redirection command to redirect the call establishment request to the WLAN access node.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents example methods and apparatuses for improved cell searching in a wireless communications environment. For example, the disclosure presents example methods of wireless communication in a multiflow environment, which may include establishing a first flow between a serving radio network controller (S-RNC) and a first network entity, wherein the S-RNC controls the first network entity. Such example methods may also include establishing a second flow between the S-RNC and a second network entity. Furthermore, such example methods may include transmitting data to a user equipment (UE) via both the first flow and the second flow.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the disclosure relate to managing ephemeris information. Provisions are made for providing ephemeris information to a user terminal (UT). Messages are defined for sending ephemeris information and for requesting ephemeris information. Ephemeris information for a subset of the satellites in a constellation may be sent to a UT to reduce signaling load. A UT may manage a database of ephemeris information to ensure freshness of the ephemeris information.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates in some aspects to forbidden area procedures and connection release management for a user terminal (UT). Forbidden area-related procedures include, for example, using a special paging area code (PAC) in conjunction with a forbidden area, defining a location reporting threshold for a UT based on the proximity of the UT to a forbidden area, or using a default paging area code if a service restriction for a UT has ended. Connection release management includes, for example, a UT sending a request to cause the release of a Radio Connection that the UT no longer needs, or a UT sending a Location Indication (e.g., including a flag requesting release of a connection) to release the connection used for location reporting when a UT is done sending the location information and is going to go back to idle mode.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to enhanced compression formats for data compression (e.g., uplink data compression (UDC)). A method is provided for wireless communications. The method generally includes determining one or more blocks of data in a current packet matching one or more blocks of data in one or more portions of one or more previous packets stored in a memory, compressing at least a portion of the current packet based on an enhanced compression format having reduced metadata relative to another compression format to indicate one or more of the matching blocks of data, and transmitting the compressed current packet. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates in some aspects to location reporting and paging for satellite communication. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a user terminal (UT) sending a message to report information about the UT's location. A threshold may be used to control whether (e.g., when) the UT reports its location. The location information may be used to enforce area (e.g., country) restrictions for the UT. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to forwarding paging messages between network access controllers. For example, a network access controller that is not able to page a UT may forward a paging message to another network access controller. In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a list of paging areas that indicates where a UT need not perform a paging area update.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for synchronizing compression for communication between a user equipment (UE) and a serving node. The methods and apparatus include determining that a compressor memory of a compressor and a decompressor memory of a decompressor are out-of-synchronization based on a checksum failure. Further, the methods and apparatus include resetting the compressor memory and the decompressor memory to a predetermined state in response to determining that the compressor memory and the decompressor memory are out-of-synchronization, wherein the compressor memory and the decompressor memory are synchronized at the predetermined state.
