Abstract: A user equipment (UE) operating in a communication system comprising a base station and one or more UEs. The UE may be configured to operate on or “camp” on two different networks with one radio. In this exemplary system, the radio may be normally connected to the first network (NW1) and may from time to time be “tuned away” from NW1 to a second network (NW2). The UE may inform NW1 that it has tuned away to another network, e.g., using start and end indicators. This information may prevent NW1 from wasting downlink capacity by unnecessarily allocating downlink resources to the UE during the tune-away. Alternatively, or in addition, this information may prevent NW1 from penalizing the UE, e.g., by reducing its future downlink allocations, since the UE does not respond to NW1 commands during the tune-away.

Abstract: A method for transitioning a video call is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device participating in a video call with a remote communication device via a first video call session established over a connection between the wireless communication device and a first cellular network. The video call can include a packet switched video stream carried over a first bearer and an audio stream carried over a second bearer. The method can further include the wireless communication device determining a degradation in a connection quality for the first cellular network; transitioning to a legacy cellular network having a circuit switched domain in response to the degradation in connection quality for the first cellular network; establishing a second video call session on the legacy cellular network; and using the second video call session to continue the video call on the legacy cellular network.

Abstract: A host device may include a wireless interface for communications, a memory, and a processor coupled to the memory and to the wireless interface. The host device may receive, via the wireless interface, an advertisement message from a client device. The advertisement message may include an identifier associated with the client device and a request for communication of data from a cloud-based service. Responsive to the advertisement, the host may send the identifier to the cloud-based service. The host may receive from the cloud-based service, a proxy indication of available data associated with the client. Responsive to receiving the proxy indication of available data, the host may provide, via the wireless interface, a connection request including a client indication of the available data from the cloud-based service to the client. After receiving the available data from the cloud-based service, the host device may send the available data to the client.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may be configured to effectively manage coexistence of multiple radio access technologies (RATs) on the device. Respective controllers responsible for at least partially managing wireless communications according to corresponding respective RATs may communicate to each other expected data transfer patterns that take place over their respective communications links, including application-specific data transfer patterns and data-transfer-mechanism-specific data transfer patterns. The RAT controllers may manage their respective data transfers according to the expected data-transfer pattern information associated with the other RATs received from each in order to prevent data transmission by the device over one RAT link interfering with data transmission of the device over another RAT link. The expected data pattern information may be sent in messaging of a specific type with indexes determined based at least on a status of the data transfer mechanism and a connectivity status of the UE device.

Abstract: A method for redundant transmission of real time data is provided. The method can include an edge node in a wireless network sending a first RTP packet including a first real time data frame to a second edge node. The method can further include the edge node determining that a radio link condition is sufficient to support redundant transmission of real time data to the second edge node. The method can additionally include the edge node, in response to determining that the radio link condition is sufficient to support redundant transmission of real time data, bundling the first real time data frame with a next sequential real time data frame that has not been previously sent to the second edge node in a second RTP packet at a PDCP layer of the edge node; and sending the second RTP packet to the second edge node.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to mitigate interference among multiple wireless subsystems of a wireless communication device are described. A host processor obtains configurations for a plurality of wireless subsystems and evaluates whether potential or actual coexistence interference exists between two or more of the wireless subsystems. The host processor provides configuration information and link quality reporting parameters to and obtains link quality reports from at least two wireless subsystems. When link quality for at least one wireless subsystem fails a set of link quality conditions, the host processor adjusts data requirements for applications that communicate through one or more of the wireless subsystems and/or adjusts radio frequency operating conditions for one or more of the wireless subsystems to mitigate interference among the wireless subsystems.

Abstract: Outer loop link adaptation for device resumption. A user equipment (UE) and base station (BS) may be in communication in a first network (e.g., an LTE network). Communication between the UE and the BS may be interrupted, e.g., due to a long fading environment, the UE tuning away to a second network (e.g., a CDMA network). Accordingly, the measured error rate may increase dramatically. After resumption from the interruption, a negative offset may be applied to a reported SINR value from the UE due to the previous increase in error rate. Upon improvement in the error rate, a larger, positive offset adjustment may be added to the negative offset, allowing the estimated SINR to return to reported SINR more quickly. Additionally, the error rate estimation may be adjusted to converge to a more recently measured more quickly by decreasing a feedback filter coefficient.
