摘要: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A base station may receive from user equipment device (UE) a random access initiation message, having a characteristic that is configured to indicate to the base station a requested size of a subsequent uplink grant to be provided by the base station for transmission of uplink data by the UE. For example, the characteristic may include a predetermined preamble included in the random access initiation message, such that a requested grant size is indicated by which preamble the UE selects from a plurality of possible preambles. As another example, the characteristic may include which RACH occasion is selected by the UE to transmit the random access initiation message. In response, the base station may allocate resources for use by the UE based on the characteristic.

The active user equipment may communicate with other active user equipment and passive user equipment. 摘要: A user equipment (UE) device may perform random access to a base station in the context where propagation delay between the base station and the UE device is large. The UE device randomly selects a random access preamble from an available set of preambles. The UE device selects a time slot for transmission of the random access preamble based on a configured correspondence between allowable time slots and subsets of the available set. The UE device transmits the random access preamble to a base station in the selected time slot, with timing advance to compensate for a common delay. Thus, the base station, knowing the configured correspondence, is able to determine the time slot in which the random access preamble was transmitted. The UE device receives a random access response that has been addressed with a Random Access Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RA-RNTI).

A wireless device may establish a communication link with a base station. The communication link with the base station may aggregate radio resources according to a first wireless communication technology and a second wireless communication technology. Use by the communication link of radio resources according to the second wireless communication technology may be suspended. Wireless communication activity according to the second wireless communication technology that is not associated with the communication link may be performed while use by the communication link of radio resources according to the second wireless communication technology is suspended. Use by the communication link of radio resources according to the second wireless communication technology may be resumed after performing the wireless communication activity according to the second wireless communication technology.

摘要: A user equipment (UE) device may communicate according to a new device category satisfying specified QoS (quality of service) requirements while also satisfying specified link budget requirements, and/or additional optimization requirements. The UE device may communicate with a cellular base station according to a first mode of operation associated with the new device category, and may switch to communicating with the cellular base station according to a second mode of operation associated with a second (pre-existing) device category in response to the link budget requirements exceeding a specified value and the quality of service requirements not being sensitive. The UE device may also switch to communicating with the cellular base station according to a third mode of operation associated with a third (pre-existing) device type in response to the link budget requirement not exceeding the specified value, or the QoS requirements being sensitive and a downlink throughput requirement exceeding a specified throughput value.

摘要: A wireless communication device may conduct first wireless communications over a first frequency band according to a first radio access technology (RAT), and may detect second wireless communications conducted over the first frequency band according to a second RAT while the wireless communication device is conducting the first wireless communications. The wireless communication device may then adjust characteristics and/or parameters associated with the first wireless communications based on the detected second wireless communications. In a specific example, a wireless communication device conducting Wi-Fi communications in the 5 GHz band may detect cellular communications (e.g. LAA/LTE-U communications) also conducted in the 5 GHz band while the wireless communication device is conducting the Wi Fi communications. The wireless communication device may then adjust characteristics and/or parameters associated with its Wi-Fi communications based on the detected signals/frequencies of the cellular (LAA/LTE-U) communications.

摘要: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting asymmetric uplink and downlink bandwidth allocations for a wireless device, and for dynamically modifying the bandwidth allocations for a wireless device, in a wireless communication system. A cellular communication link may be established between a base station and a wireless device. The base station may determine an uplink bandwidth allocation and a downlink bandwidth allocation for the wireless device. The uplink bandwidth allocation and the downlink bandwidth allocation may be selected based on different criteria and may include different amounts of bandwidth. Indications of the uplink bandwidth allocation and the downlink bandwidth allocation may be provided to the wireless device. The base station and wireless device may communicate according to the uplink bandwidth allocation and the downlink bandwidth allocation.
