Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for communicating in a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. A user equipment (UE) can receive, from a first base station using the first RAT, first configuration information for the UE to communicate with a second base station via the second RAT; and receive, from the first base station using the first RAT, a downlink message to enable a communication link between the UE and the second base station via the second RAT. The downlink message includes second configuration information for the UE to communicate with the second base station via the second RAT. The UE can establish the communication link between the UE and the second base station using the second RAT based on a link configuration obtained from the first configuration information and the second configuration information.

Abstract: An electronic device may include radios that transmit signals using antennas. Control circuitry may assign radio-frequency exposure (RFE) budgets to the radios. The control circuitry may classify and predict attributes of application data for transmission over the radios, may generate a per-radio data prediction based on the classified attributes, and may generate the RFE budgets based on the classified attributes. Each radio may transmit application data based on its data prediction and according to its RFE budget. A dynamic portion of the RFE budget may be reserved for control signaling. RFE planning in this way may ensure that the device optimally utilizes its RFE budget, increasing overall RFE during some time periods so sufficient transmit power is available, and ensuring that RFE is distributed across the radios depending on the amount and criticality of the data to be transmitted by each radio.

Each user equipment can receive and transmit data using radio access technologies. A group of user equipments may include active user equipment and passive user equipment. Active user equipment connects with one or more base stations and transfers data on a wireless communication network via the base station. The active user equipment may communicate with other active user equipment and passive user equipment. Passive user equipment may not connect to any base station and/or the wireless communication network and may communicate with other passive user equipment and active user equipment (e.g., via a sidelink, peer-to-peer, or device-to-device channel).

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may reside in a state of dual connectivity with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG), wherein the radio access technologies of the MCG and the SCG are different. While in the dual connectivity state, the UE device may transition to a mode of reduced activity (e.g., processing and/or RF activity) relative to the secondary cell group (SCG) in order to save power, e.g., when traffic flow via the SCG is below a threshold, or when scheduling activity on the SCG is low. Various mechanisms may be employed to reduce activity, e.g., mechanisms such as reduction of beam monitoring, deactivation of secondary cells of the SCG, reduction of number of active antenna elements, employment of longer periods for periodic measurement and reporting processes, etc.

Abstract: A cellular communications system may include a user equipment (UE) that executes a target and non-target applications. The UE may convey a first stream of non-quality-of-service (QoS) wireless data with a first external device over a first Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) session and may receive a second stream of non-QoS wireless data from a second external device over a second TCP session. Responsive to a drop in data rate of the first stream, the UE may perform mitigation operations that adjust receipt of the second stream to boost the data rate of the first stream. The mitigation operations may include transmission of a triple duplicate acknowledgement (TDA), delayed transmission of an acknowledgment (ACK) to the second stream, and/or terminating the second TCP session. This may prevent disruptions to user experience with the first software application even when the network has downlink data to transmit to the UE.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and processors are provided for supporting a distributed computing framework. In one example, a wireless communication device is configured to act as a distributed computing control node (ContN), the wireless communication device including a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to, when executing instructions stored in the memory, cause the device to receive respective registration messages from respective wireless communication devices. The registration messages include registration information indicating whether a respective wireless communication device acts as an offload node (OffN) for distributed computing or a compute node (CompN) for distributed computing. The processor is configured to store the registration information in a resource repository and, based on the registration information of the respective wireless communication devices, transmit a resource availability message indicating available distributed computing resources to wireless communication devices acting as OffNs.

Abstract: This disclosure provides various techniques for decreasing the time it takes user equipment to tune away from a compromised network connection. By more quickly detecting a signal characteristic issue (e.g., signal quality issue) in the compromised signal and performing mitigation actions, the user equipment may decrease power consumption and increase data throughput. The signal quality issue may be detected by monitoring the location of the user equipment, a channel impulse response of the user equipment, and/or a block error rate (BLER) of a signal, among other methods. The data obtained may be fed into confidence validation logic, which may determine a level of confidence that the signal quality issue may cause a weak or broken connection between the user equipment and a network. The confidence validation logic may, based on the determination, operate the user equipment in an active state, a suspend state, or a release state.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods and devices for transmitting acknowledgment messages on a preferred cell in a carrier aggregation scenario. A user equipment device (UE) establishes a connection with a primary cell and one or more secondary cells, and determines a preferred cell from among the primary cell and the one or more secondary cells based at least in part on one or more quality metrics. The UE may determine the preferred cell at least in part in response to determining that transmission power of the UE has been limited due to a specific absorption rate (SAR) backoff feature of the UE. The UE transmits a notification to a network indicating that the UE intends to transmit an acknowledgement message to the preferred cell, and transmits the acknowledgment message to the preferred cell.
