Abstract: A method for managing a QoE for a UE in a communications network is provided. The method includes determining, based at least on data received in a communications session, one or more parameters affecting the QoE. The method includes determining weights corresponding to the one or more parameters. The method includes computing an expected QoE for the UE based on the determined weights corresponding to the one or more parameters. The method includes determining that the expected QoE satisfies a threshold. The method includes transmitting, to one or more network nodes in the communications network, the determined weights corresponding to the one or more parameters. The method also includes adjusting the communications session at the UE.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A base station (BS) may receive from a user equipment (UE) a first buffer status report (BSR) indicating an amount of uplink data buffered by the UE for transmission to the BS, and may subsequently receive a first BSR update message indicating that an additional amount of uplink data has been buffered by the UE subsequent to transmission of the first BSR. The first BSR update message may be received prior to expiration of a timer authorizing transmission of a second BSR following the first BSR. In response, the BS may allocate resources for transmission to the UE, based on the first BSR and the first BSR update message. The BS may provide an uplink grant identifying the allocated resources.

Abstract: A base station may operate in a context where the propagation delay between the base station and user equipment (UE) devices is large. The base station configures UE devices with a common delay. The base station receives a random access preamble from a UE device. The base station determines a time slot in which the random access preamble was transmitted, based on a configured correspondence between allowable time slots and subsets of an available set of preambles. The base station computes a Random Access Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RA-RNTI) based on parameter values including an index, of the determined time slot. The base station employs the computed RA-RNTI to address a random access response for the UE device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) passively determines the presence of a cellular network bottleneck in a downlink channel and may take appropriate actions to mitigate the bottleneck. The UE may analyze the transport block size (TBS) of slots of received downlink traffic and assign states the to various slots based on this analysis. Based on these assigned states, the UE may identify a burst of network traffic from network traffic received from the cellular network, and the UE may also determine the burst duration as well as a busy estimation. The UE may determine that the cellular network is experiencing a bottleneck based at least in part on the burst duration and the busy estimation.

The method may include the UE performing a carrier sensing operation on the unlicensed band, determining, from the carrier sensing operation, a duration that the unlicensed band will be occupied, refraining from transmitting data to the second cell on the unlicensed band for the duration that the unlicensed band will be occupied and setting a transmitter in communication with the second cell to a low power mode for the duration that the unlicensed band will be occupied.

Abstract: A user equipment device (UE) may transmit, in a packet to a base station, information associated with resource configuration/resource requirement corresponding to wireless uplink communications of the wireless communication device. The base station may assign resources to the UE based on the received information. The UE may receive an uplink grant from the base station, with the uplink grant specifying resources for use by the wireless communication device during the uplink communications based on the information previously transmitted to the base station by the wireless communication device. The UE may send the packet at the time a voice call with the UE is initiated, and/or the UE may transmit the information during voice calls in response the UE changing one or more resource configuration parameters during the voice call. The UE may use Robust Header Compression packets of various types to transmit the resource configuration information.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for indicating a preference to receive a single-user multiple input multiple output (SU-MIMO) or multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmission from an access point (AP). Embodiments include generating a standard action frame that contains an action field that species a preference to receive a SU-MIMO or MU-MIMO transmission from the AP. A station (STA) can transmit the generated action frame to the AP. The STA can receive an acknowledgement frame from the AP that indicates the AP is configured to use the requested transmission method. The STA can then receive data from the AP using the requested transmission method.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for intelligent scheduling in hybrid networks based on client identity. For example, in one embodiment, the hybrid networks are cellular networks (e.g., LTE and CDMA 1X), and a cellular device uses a single-radio solution to support circuit-switched calls on a CDMA 1X network and packet-switched calls on LTE. Periodically, the cellular device tunes away from LTE and monitors CDMA 1X activity, and vice versa. The LTE network can infer the cellular device's tune away schedule, based on the device's identity, and the paging schedule algorithm of the CDMA 1X network.
