Abstract:
A method for playing video ringtones on a communication device of a user includes a downloadable application on the communication device receiving a video ringtone to be associated with a buddy of the user, the communication device receiving a call-related triggering event related to the buddy and in response to the call-related triggering event, the communication device playing the video ringtone. A further method includes the communication device receiving a call-related triggering event related to a buddy of the user; and in response to the call-related triggering event, the communication device activating a functionality of the communication device.
Abstract:
Devices of a telecommunication network described herein are configured to reduce a service level associated with a quality of service offered by the telecommunication network to a user. The devices may reduce the service level responsive to data consumption by the user exceeding a threshold or responsive to data consumption associated with an application or data type. Also, the devices may be configured to increase a video-conversation-specific service level responsive to determining that a client device of the user is establishing a video conversation.
Abstract:
In a communication of audio signals between first and second portable-telephone devices through a first portable-telephone base station, a second portable-telephone base station and a portable-telephone line network has been connected, IP addresses are exchanged. The IP addresses are required for communicating image data by first and second terminal adapters associated with the first and second portable-telephone devices respectively through an OCN. Image data is then transmitted to the IP addresses received in the communication through the OCN.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques for transferring electronic data between users of a communications system by receiving, at an instant messaging host, a video file from a sender and intended for a recipient; authenticating the video file; and sending the video file to the intended recipient.
Abstract:
A method includes previously downloading, to a device of a user, media content chosen by a buddy of the user and an indication that it is to be associated with the buddy, passing the downloaded media content to the device as the media content to be associated in a contact list with the buddy and playing the media content in response to an identification of the buddy.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a server apparatus includes a connection controller which selectively executes first processing to execute the communication connections among the several data terminals, respectively, and second processing to make the several data terminals, respectively, to communication-connect to the conference processing unit, a processor which executes a first screen display mode to individually display a plurality of screens, related to each of the several data terminals, and executes a second screen display mode to display screens, in which a plurality of screens related to each of the several data terminals are synthesized by the conference processing unit, based on the prescribed conditions, and a switching controller which selectively executes switching from the first screen display mode to the second screen display mode, or from the second screen display mode to the first screen display mode, and maintaining a screen display mode before switching, based on the prescribed conditions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for fusing, for a subscriber, a plurality of applications and subscriber data across a plurality of subscriber access devices are described. The system includes a fusion server coupled to a voice-over-IP telephony switch and a television EBIF server. The fusion server receives and stores the subscriber data such as a list of contacts. The fusion server receives a communication in a first format from a first subscriber access device such as a set-top box, and translates the communication from the first format to a second format. The first and second formats include at least two of session initiation protocol (SIP), hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), voice-over-IP (VoIP), simple object access protocol over extensible markup language (SOAP/XML), remote procedure call (RPC), and enhanced tv binary exchange format (EBIF). The fusion server transmits the translated communication to a second subscriber access device such as a smart phone or tablet computer.
Abstract:
A mobile communication device includes video communication capability. When the video call is place on hold by the mobile communication device, a pre-recorded video is transmitted to the holding party. The pre-recorded video may be stored in the memory of the mobile communication device or may be stored in a video server in the network. In the latter case, the mobile communication device signals the video server to transmit a selected video to the holding party when the video call is placed on hold.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for enabling an interactive voice response (IVR) system to deliver a video stream to a telecommunications terminal and handle events related to the video stream. In particular, the illustrative embodiment overcomes two disadvantages of the prior art. First, the illustrative embodiment enables events to be generated and caught by a script of an IVR system at any time during a call. Second, the illustrative embodiment enables events to be handled in parallel with the execution of a script of the IVR system, thereby enabling the performing of actions response to a stream-related event without halting or interfering with other tasks of the IVR script.
Abstract:
A gateway apparatus arranged between the mobile circuit switched network and the mobile IMS network, includes a call control unit which converts a control signal output from the mobile circuit switched network into at least one of SIP and SDP to output a signal converted to the mobile IMS network and a conversion unit which receives a line switching protocol for an audio signal output from the mobile circuit switched network. The conversion unit decides, using at least one of SIP and SDP, output from the mobile IMS network and received by the call control unit, on whether the partner terminal is to be connected via the mobile IMS network to the mobile circuit switched network, via the mobile IMS network to a fixed network or via the mobile IMS network to a mobile broadband network, then converts the line switching protocol to one of different protocol, depending on a result of the decision, and outputs the protocol converted signal to the mobile IMS network (FIG. 2).
