Abstract:
Process for conditioning textile materials in order to enable them to have, especially, a pleasant handle and a very low or even non-existent yellowing, characterized in that the textile materials are brought into contact with a composition comprising a polyorgano-siloxane having, per mole, at least one unit of general formula: ##EQU1## in which: R can represent a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl radical; X can represent a hydrolysable radical; Z represents a residue containing (a) sterically hindered piperidyl group(s) of formulae: ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is a divalent hydrocarbon radical, R'.sup.1 is a trivalent hydrocarbon radical, U and U' represent --O--, --NH-- or --N(alkyl)-, R.sup.2 can represent a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl radical and R.sup.3 is H or R.sup.2, a and b are chosen from 0, 1 and 2, the sum a+b being not greater than 2.
Abstract:
There is provided a stable, concentrated fabric rinse composition comprising 0.3 to 10, preferably 0.3 to 3% by weight of a fluorescent whitening agent which is compatible with a fabric care ingredient, preferably a cationic, amphoteric or anionic fluorescent whitening agent, based on the total weight of the composition, and optionally a fabric care ingredient, preferably a fabric softener, a stain release or stain repellant ingredient or a water-proofing agent, the remainder being substantially water. The fabric rinse composition is preferably a fabric softener composition comprising 5 to 25, preferably 10 to 20% by weight of a cationic fabric softening agent and 0.3 to 10, preferably 0.3 to 3% by weight of a cationic, amphoteric or anionic fluorescent whitening agent, each based on the total weight of the composition, the remainder being substantially water. The present invention also provides method for the treatment of a textile article, comprising applying, to the previously washed article, the said fabric rinse composition, preferably the rinse cycle fabric softener composition, whereby the sun protection factor, and other properties such as the tear Strength and lighffastness of articles so treated can be significantly increased.
Abstract:
A process for the treatment of a textile material comprisinga) applying evenly a liquor solution (hereinafter referred to as "the liquor") for performing the treatment to the material in such a manner that the dry weight uptake of the solution at the end of this step is no more than 200%;b) then passing the material into a high frequency field of 10-50 MHz for 1 to 120 seconds; andc) optionally maintaining the material at the temperature that the material reaches in the high frequency field for up to 15 minutes (preferably 1-5 minutes).
Abstract:
An aqueous starch oil sizing composition is provided which produces improved processibility in woven and non-woven applications. The sizing combines a high amylose corn starch which has been derivatized with propylene oxide, with a low amylose highly crosslinked corn starch. The sizing also includes lubricants which may be oils or waxes and a lubricant which is the salt of a polyamino functional polyamide resin. Other emusifiers, humectants, lubricants, defoamers, and biocides may be present. The size also includes a silane coupling agent such as gamma glycidoxy propyl trimethoxy silane which can be hydrolyzed. Strands of glass fiber which have been treated with this size have shown a reduced tendency to shed the size from the strands, a reduction in the buildup of broken filaments or "fuzz" on processing equipment and reduced strand breakage.
Abstract:
There are provided novel diorganoaminoorganosiloxy-terminated polysiloxanes and compositions thereof which provide improved properties to hair and textile fabric treated with them. Methods for treating hair and fabric with the polysiloxanes and compositions containing them are also provided.
Abstract:
A novel silicone-based fabric finishing agent is proposed which is particularly suitable for finishing a fabric material containing keratinous fibers, e.g., wool, for imparting the fabric material with excellent shrink-proofness and soft and pleasant feeling of touch even after repeated laundering treatments. The fabric finishing agent is an aqueous emulsion of a hydroxy-containing organopolysiloxane with admixture of a mixture of colloidal silica and a reaction product of an amino-functional alkoxy silane or a hydrolysis product thereof with an acid anhydride, an epoxy-functional alkoxy silane compound and a curing catalyst.
Abstract:
A fabric softener including a silicon compound having the formula[(R.sub.3 SiO).sub.2 --SiR--(CH.sub.2).sub.a ].sub.b N.sup.+ R'.sub.4-b X.sup.-wherein R is an alkyl radical having one to six carbon atoms; R' is an alkyl or aryl radical having one to eighteen carbon atoms; X is chloride, bromide, iodide, nitrate, or RSO.sub.4.sup.- ; a is an integer having a value from one to ten; and b is an integer having a value of two or three.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for the treatment of insulating materials in the supple, fluffy state, such as down, wherein the fluff of the down is subjected to a physical treatment adapted to take the filaments of the fluff into a substantially radial position, giving the fluff its maximum volume in which it is stabilized by the superficial deposit of a resin. The apparatus for carrying out the process comprises a dehydration enclosure in the form of a rotating drum with inner blades, hot air inlet and upper evacuation. The invention is more particularly applicable to the treatment of down for filling duvets, sleeping bags or the like.
