    摘要： An underdrain filtration system has improved perforation structure, the perforations being positioned to admit the filtrate into a plenum defined by elongated underdrain rib structures of the system. Instead of drilled or laser-cut holes or slits, the slits are formed by stamping discs from the stainless steel plate, such that the discs extend parallel to the surrounding flat area but are raised just sufficiently to define a plurality of slits under each disc, preferably two to four slits, each being an arc of slightly less than 180null, 120null or 90null, respectively. A pair of metal bridges remain to integrally connect the raised disc and the surrounding flat field. Consistent perforation width is achieved, at, for example, 0.010null width varying by less than 0.001null in either direction, improving consistency of pressure drop. In addition, the raised discs during backflushing of the underdrain create an outwardly diverging water flow pattern which is beneficial in clearing trapped particles from the filter medium in the vicinity of the underdrain perforations.

Filters of this type consist, as a rule, of a tubular filter fabric, into which a supporting body maintaining the shape is inserted. These filters lie only in a part region of the baffle due to their shaping, with the result that the supply of fuel to the fuel pump is impaired, particularly in the case of a low fuel level. The new feed unit, in particular the bottom region, forms part of the filter housing. The filter fabric is fastened to the baffle in this region and the fuel pump is connected to the filter.

    摘要： A continuous adsorption facility is used to purify a liquid stream that contains impurities. A solid adsorbent is used having a special affinity for the impurities over the desired components in the liquid feed. An adsorber is constructed, employing gravity for the transfer of adsorbent between stages with a series of stages each having fluidized beds with limited bed expansion characteristics where the solid adsorbent countercurrent-contacts the upwardly flowing fresh feed introduced at the base. The adsorbent is regenerated with return of most of the desired components from the porous solids becoming part of the adsorber-treated product. Impurities are further removed during regeneration and disposed of separately. Using a novel regeneration arrangement, the reactivating gas may be reduced to below 4% of prior requirements. Capital investment and operating costs economically afford ultra-low sulfur clean gasoline meeting standards imposed by auto manufacturers worldwide.
