Abstract:
When a memory read and a facsimile transmission operation are concurrently performed, first it is determined in the memory read operation whether a converting block is available based on the state of an in-use flag. If the converting block is unavailable, namely the converting block is in use by the facsimile transmission operation, the memory read operation goes in a standby state. When the converting block is available, namely the in-use flag is reset on the facsimile transmission operation side, the in-use flag is set indicating that the converting block is in use by the memory read operation. Then, one line of document data is coded and stored in an accumulated memory. Next, after the in-use flag is reset, the above-mentioned process is repeated until all of the document data has been coded. This allows the converting block to be alternately used by the memory read and the facsimile transmission operations.

A signal generator is responsive to the sensing element position to provide control signals to the stacking control system.
Abstract:
A method of managing memory allocation in a printing system including the steps of creating a plurality of blocks and designating each block with an identifier. In response to a request from a client, a first set of identifiers, corresponding with a first set of blocks, is placed into a database by a resource manager. The client then accesses the database and, by reference to the first set of identifiers, begins filling up the first set of blocks with image data. As each block is filled, the client transmits an interrupt signal to a controller. After a predesignated one of the first set of blocks has been filled, the controller causes the resource manager to place a second set of identifiers in the database so that the client can access the second set of identifiers as soon as it has completed filling the first set of blocks.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus comprises a receiving buffer for receiving video data, a scanner for reading an image, a VRAM for storing a coded data, a single coding/decoding (C/D) IC for MR-coding, MR-to-MMR coding, decoding, and error-checking, and a page printer, and a control circuit, when an event requiring more than two operations of the C/D IC at the same time, the control circuit permits only one operation and force the other operations to wait in some condition. In another condition, the control circuit permits one of the other operation and force the other operations to wait. For example, when the scanner reads an image to produce read data and the C/D IC codes the read data to store the read data in the VRAM and there is a call, the control means connects the line but keeps the coding if the receiving buffer has a space. In the presence of the space the control circuit interrupt the coding and starts the decoding. Another event requiring operation of C/D IC of the MMR coding from MR coded data and operation of MR coding, decoding, or error-checking may be occur. Various events requiring combination of operations of the single C/D IC at the same time and various adaptable controllings are considered.

Abstract:
An electronic reprographic system with a scanner for scanning the document pages of a job and converting the document images scanned to pixels, a printer for making prints of the documents from the pixels in accordance with job programming instructions, a controller section with memory for use by both the scanner and the printer simultaneously, the scanner and printer operating asynchronously with respect to one another, the ability to abort scanning of a document when either the scanner or printer runs out of allocated system memory during operation, the system memory getting reallocated in preparation of a new scan, and the document that was not completely scanned getting rescanned.
Abstract:
Reproduction apparatus includes an addressable buffer memory from which stored image signals can be retrieved in a first mode for producing a single collated reproduction set, a second mode for producing plural sets of collated reproductions, and a third mode for producing plural sub-sets of collated reproductions corresponding respectively to first and subsequent sub-groups of pages of multiple-page original documents. A finisher selectably staples, folds or otherwise finishes collated reproduction sets, but requires complete sets to operate. An operator may select between the first and third modes when the apparatus is operating in its second mode and the capacity of said buffer memory is exceeded. Selection of a set finishing operation is cancelled upon operator selection of the third mode.
