摘要： In one embodiment, a control method for an image processing apparatus including a reading unit configured to read a document image and a printing unit configured to print the document image read by the reading unit is provided. The control method includes detecting an error in process of reading by the reading unit, causing the reading unit to perform reread processing for rereading the document image based on the error being detected, and refraining, in a case where the image processing apparatus operates in a mode in which the printing unit starts printing without waiting for the reading unit to complete reading a document image, from causing the reading unit to perform the reread processing based on the error being detected.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a print engine, a first CPU that controls operation of the image forming apparatus except for the print engine, a second CPU that controls operation of the print engine, and a shared memory. On executing processing of a print job, the first CPU performs a job management including managing job management information and storing the job management information in a data area of the shared memory, and the first CPU outputs image data to be printed, stored in the data area, to the print engine. The second CPU monitors an operation state of the first CPU and, on determining that the abnormality is occurring in the first CPU, maintains the processing of the print job by outputting the image data to be printed to the print engine as proxy for the first CPU and performing the job management as proxy for the first CPU.

摘要： Methods and apparatus pertaining to scanning or copying documents are provided. Sheet media are individually transported away from an input location. Optical scanning of the sheet media is initiated in accordance with detecting the passage of leading edges of the sheet media. Electronic signals resulting from the scanning are automatically analyzed to detect trailing edges of overlapping sheet media. A user notification is issued if a multiple sheet pick event is detected. A user can resume scanning or copying of a multiple sheet document at the location where the multiple sheet pick occurred.

Fax images are encoded with an embedded digital bit signal by a fax software program on the originating fax that indicates the number of pages in the document where such bit signal is recognized by fax software at a fax service for the purpose of monitoring the page count of the transmission, and in the case of a failed transmission, using the embedded digital data to notify the recipient that more pages will be transmitted, and further transmitting the remaining pages on the next facsimile phone call.
