Abstract:
An improved electrophotographic printer is provided for generating a security stamp in firmware, and printing that security stamp to create documents that have a visible and tactile logo that is automatically printed on each page of a print job. The firmware will automatically create the proper bitmap of the security logo for a page's print resolution and bit depth. Using a color laser printer, the security stamp can be printed using all of the process colors, such as CMYK, which would be rendered and printed at 400% toner coverage. This gives the security stamp a very dark visible appearance and a thick tactile texture. The security stamp can include an area for printing a serial number of the printer, and for printing a time and date stamp.
Abstract:
A scanner device that optically reads an image comprises a protect specification data detection unit that detects a protect specification data which is contained in the read image to request protection of image data of the image. A protected image data creation unit encrypts the image data of the image containing the protect specification data, in response to a detection signal of the protect specification data detection unit that indicates that the protect specification data in the image has been detected, so that a protected image data is created.
Abstract:
A printer for printing a second interface onto a second surface, in response to sensed coded data received from a sensing device, the sensed data being sensed by the sensing device from first coded data included in a first interface disposed on a first surface. The printer has an input module configured to receive the sensed data, generate indicating data based on the sensed coded data and send the indicating data to a computer system. The printer also includes a printing module, including a printing mechanism, configured to receive response data from the computer system, the response data being derived by the computer system from the sensed coded data, generate the second interface based at least partially on the response data and print the second interface onto the second surface using the printing mechanism.
Abstract:
A method of printing a copy of a document, using an original printed document having a zone including coded data, the method including the following steps: (a) receiving a request from an optical sensing device, the request being generated in response to a user directing the optical sensing device towards the zone on the original document, which causes the optical sensing device to sense coded data on the original document and transmit a message to the printer indicative of a copy request, or to the computer system operatively connected to the printer; (b) retrieving a copy of the original document from a memory of the computer system in response to receiving the request; and (c) printing the retrieved copy.
Abstract:
A method for printing a document from a computer including transmitting instructions for printing the document from the computer to a printer, printing the document on the printer in accordance with the instructions received from the computer, and also printing on the document coded data indicative of an identity of the document and a plurality of reference points on the document, wherein the coded data is printed on the document in a form which can be read by an optical sensing device to identify a location of the sensing device relative to the document thereby to invoke a function in relation to the document.
Abstract:
A printer for printing a second interface onto a second surface, in response to first indicating data received from a sensing device in the form of a stylus. The first indicating data is sensed by the stylus from first coded data. A first interface is disposed on a first surface, and includes the first coded data. The printer includes an input module and a printing module. The input module is configured to receive the first indicating data from the stylus, the first indicating data being at least partially indicative of response data. The input module generates second indicating data based on the first indicating data, the second indicating data being at least partially indicative of the response data. The second indicating data is sent to a computer system. The printing module includes a printing mechanism configured to receive the response data from the computer system. The second interface is based at least partially on the response data. The printing module then prints the second interface onto the second surface using the printing mechanism.
Abstract:
A digital still camera combines a display pattern received from a printing apparatus and a photographed image with each other, and displays the resultant image on a viewfinder. A user adjusts the balance between the display pattern and the image of the object both being displayed on the viewfinder, and depresses a shutter release button. The digital still camera fetches the photographed image. The digital still camera sends to the printing apparatus the fetched image and a pattern name specifying the display pattern used at the time of photographing. The printing apparatus combines the decoration pattern specified by the pattern and the image received from the digital still camera into composite image data. The printing apparatus prints the composite image data.
Abstract:
A transmission job for transmitting image data is executed. A report indicating a result of transmission of the image data is output. A first instruction regarding output of the report is accepted as a common setting for a plurality of transmission jobs. A second instruction regarding output of the report is accepted as an individual setting for a specific transmission job. Control is performed so as to output the report if the second instruction indicates that the report is to be output, even if the first instruction does not indicate that the report is to be output.

Abstract:
A printer is provided having a coded tag generator configured to generate coded tags based on identity data indicative of an identity associated with an interface and position data defining a relative position of each tag on the interface, and a controller for controlling printing of the interface with the coded tags at the positions defined by the position data and having the identity data.
