A process for coating a front and back surface of an industrial textile to increase its abrasion resistance is disclosed. The coating process comprises the steps of coating the textile with a coating compound, heating coated textile at a temperature of 120 degree Celsius and drying the coated textile for 60 seconds. Two passes of coating is applied for the process wherein the viscosity for first pass of coating is 21000 centipoise and the viscosity for second pass of coating is 12000 centipoise. On completion of the coating process, the coated textile is treated with a water repellent agent. The coating compound used for the process is an aromatic compound, polyurethane mixed with methyl ethyl ketone and the water repellent agent is silicone. The overall process requires a curing time of 2 minutes with a curing agent.

This invention provides a fabric having a foamed layer. The fabric is obtained by the foaming method which prevents to expand heat expansible micro capsules in a cross-linked resin. A foamed layer is laminated on the fabric material. The foamed layer is comprising of heat expanded micro capsules, a synthetic resin holding the capsules on the fabric material, silica fine powders which are hydrophilic and fine porous. The fabric is obtained by the following method. A synthetic resin solution comprising of heat expansible micro capsules and the silica fine powders is prepared. The solution is applied on the fabric material at all surface or pattered surface. The synthetic resin layer is formed after drying. After that, the heat expansible micro capsules are expanded by heating.

A leather-like sheet material including a fibrous substrate and an elastomeric film layer which are bonded to each other with a silicone-compound-containing water-soluble or water-dispersible adhesive layer of an elastic polymer, and the leather-like sheet material is produced by a process for the production of a leather-like sheet material by attaching the fibrous substrate and the elastomeric film layer, which process includes applying a water solution or water dispersion of an elastic polymer, the water solution or water dispersion containing a silicone compound, to the attachment surface of one of the fibrous substrate and the elastomeric film layer and drying the applied solution or dispersion. According to this invention, there is provided a leather-like sheet material excellent in abrasion resistance and at the same time excellent in tenacity against peeling and flexibility, and a production process thereof.

A synthetic leather including a microfiber nonwoven has an adhesive on one surface and a layer of open-pore polyurethane foam thereon, wherein the surface of the polyurethane foam layer facing away from the microfiber nonwoven is obtained by splitting. The synthetic leather is manufacturable by a simple method in which little waste occurs. Further processing preferably takes place by back-injection in an injection molding tool.

The artificial leather resides in that the top layer and adhesive layer is formed of a solvent-free elastomer resin composition and the intermediate layer provided between the top layer and adhesive layer is formed of a polyurethane resin composition containing more than 50% by weight solid content of polyurethane resin. A method for producing an environmental friendly artificial leather product includes coating a first solvent-free elastomer resin composition on a releasing paper to form a top layer, coating a polyurethane resin composition containing more than 50% by weight solid content on the top layer to form an intermediate layer, coating a second solvent-free elastomer resin composition on the intermediate layer to form an adhesive layer, and finally applying a substrate on the adhesive layer, and peeling the releasing paper.

This invention relates to automotive protective devices such as inflatable air bags, side air curtains, or the like. More particularly, the invention relates to laminated textile fabrics for use in side air curtains. The invention also provides a composite film product having adhesive and sealing properties useful in the manufacture of these products and a method of manufacturing said composite film product. According to the method of making the side air curtain, an adhesive polycarbonate polyurethane, polyether polyurethane or polyester polyurethane prime coat layer is first coated onto the textile substrate, and then a polymeric film, such as polyamide, polyolefin, polyester, polyether, polycarbonate or polyurethane is laminated thereto. The prime coat adhesive layer is applied to the textile substrate, which can be non-woven or woven nylon, polyester, or other synthetic fiber, through rotogravure or direct coating and allowed to dry. A polymeric film is applied to the prime-coated textile substrate by means of hot film lamination, through the use of heat and pressure. According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, a multi-layered composite film product is disclosed, which can be used as a film laminate without the need for a prime coat adhesive layer being first applied to the textile substrate. In such case, the adhesive prime coat is applied to the textile substrate in a single step via the film laminate itself. The methods and products of this invention thus permit a side air curtain to be pre-configured or prefabricated to numerous varied designs and shapes prior to coating that would otherwise not be possible, and will result in economies of operation and cost of manufacturing.

Substrates having successive layers of a cellular polyurethane and a noncellular polyurethane are prepared using certain siloxane-polyether block copolymers in the noncellular polyurethane formulation. The use of the block copolymer reduces or eliminates the formation of a bubble line at the interface of the polyurethane layers, thereby improving physical and cosmetic properties of the carpet.
