Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for signalling the falling of bodies in water, comprising a piezo-electric cell for detecting frequency waves less than or equal to 5 Hz and comprising, in a case, a sensor formed of a membrane and a piezo-electric cell connected to a signal amplification and management circuit, in which the effects produced by disturbing frequencies not representative of bodies falling in water, are eliminated, wherein the effects produced by disturbing frequencies are eliminated by dumping or attenuating the frequencies higher the 5 Hz by placing, in the center between membrane 2 and the piezo-electric element 4, an elastomer disk 11 with a Shore hardness between 20 and 25 and forming an elastomer bridge.
Abstract:
An automatic, ultrasonic system for controlling the filling of different sizes of beverage containers which may or may not contain various quantities of ice. The system includes a transducer assembly and a control module, both preferably connected to a beverage dispenser valve assembly. The transducer assembly includes at least two piezo-electric crystals for separately transmitting and receiving ultrasonic wave energy from the grate, the cup lip, the top of any ice in the cup, and the rising liquid level, and for generating signals corresponding to the travel time of the ultrasonic energy. The control module includes a microcomputer and associated circuitry. The system can include two separate transmitter and receiver crystals, or in a preferred embodiment two transmitter-receiver paris of crystals.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a system for aerially transmitting an ultrasonic view of a vibration mode, small in angle of direction, in a clear state and to a transmitter and a receiver used in the system. According to the system, an ultrasonic pulse can be used for distance measurement, control and other signal means even at relatively short distance.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic transducer employs a ceramic disc which, when excited by a d-c pulse, vibrates in its planar resonant frequency mode. The sensitivity is selectively increased for the second positive half cycle of the transient oscillation of the disc and a method is described for using the selectively improved transient response to greatly increase the precision of measurement of the time interval for a transient pulse of ultrasonic energy to travel the distance between an ultrasonic transmitter and an ultrasonic receiver.
Abstract:
The invention describes a novel design of an acoustic transformer which serves as an impedance matching device between the transducer material and the atmosphere. The transformer serves also to effectively increase the limited maximum permissible amplitude of vibration of the transducer material whereby the maximum acoustic power radiated into the atmosphere is substantially increased. The novel acoustic transformer design also results in a significant reduction in the magnitude of the secondary lobes in the directional pattern thereby additionally improving the performance characteristics of the transducer.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic nondestructuve testing system and a search unit are disclosed herein. The search unit includes a transducer crystal for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic energy together with an acoustical backing structure which is disposed on the backside of the transducer crystal for dampening spurious ultrasonic energy radiated from its back-side. The backing structure includes compacted or pressed fibers of a dense, nonresonant material.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device includes a driving circuit arranged to be capable of supplying a drive signal in an ultrasonic band to a piezoelectric element, a damping circuit having a resistance load and an inductive load, and a control circuit arranged to be capable of controlling the driving circuit and performing a reverberation reduction operation after stopping the supply of the drive signal to the piezoelectric element. In the reverberation reduction operation, the control circuit controls the driving circuit to supply the piezoelectric element with a damping signal having a phase different from that of the drive signal, and then enables the damping circuit to connect to the piezoelectric element.
