摘要： For a lighting device for obtaining output light in the wavelengths of light of three colors of red, green, and blue, a lighting device using a semiconductor laser for the blue light has been proposed. 摘要： To provide a liquid crystal device with a high contrast ratio without deteriorating the aperture ratios of the respective pixels by reducing inferior alignment in liquid crystal, which is caused by alignment films, a liquid crystal device includes an element substrate having active elements and pixel electrodes, a counter substrate arranged to face the element substrate and having counter electrodes that face the pixel electrodes, and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the element substrate and the counter substrate. On the internal surfaces of the element substrate and the counter substrate, the alignment films are made of column-shaped inorganic material structures inclined in a predetermined direction with respect to the surface of the substrates are provided. The liquid crystal is made of liquid crystal molecules having positive dielectric anisotropy. The pre-tilt angle θ1 of the liquid crystal molecules on the alignment film of the element substrate is no less than 10° and no more than 45° and the pre-tilt angle θ2 of the liquid crystal molecules on the alignment film of the counter substrate is no less than 0° and no more than 10°.

摘要： Exemplary embodiments of the invention provide a liquid crystal device including a metal light-shielding film having a structure capable of reducing or preventing light leakage caused by disclination generated at corners of a pixel region and of suppressing diffraction light caused by a knife edge. The liquid crystal device of exemplary embodiments of the present invention is provided with a first light-shielding film extending substantially in the direction parallel to a polarizing axis of incident light and in the direction perpendicular thereto. The clear viewing direction of liquid crystal obliquely intersects sides of a square-shaped pixel region, and at one of four corners of the pixel region that is located at the side opposite to the clear viewing direction, the edge of a pattern of the first light-shielding film is composed of a portion extending substantially in the direction parallel to the polarizing axis of the incident light and a portion extending substantially in the direction perpendicular thereto. At the other three corners, the edge of the pattern of the first light-shielding film obliquely intersects the polarizing axis of the incident light.

摘要： A projection lens enlarges and projects optical images in a matrix type light valve onto a screen. The projection lens includes a front lens group of the retrofocusing type; a rear lens with aspherical surfaces whose radii of curvature in the peripheral portion are shorter than that in the central portion; and a reflecting mirror which is positioned between the front lens group and the rear lens and diverts the optical axis. This projection lens enables the optical images in the light valve to be projected with a high contrast and a wide field angle. A projection system is provided which includes a light source; a light valve; a converging optical apparatus; a transmission type screen; diverting place mirrors; and a projection lens to enlarge and project the optical images in the light valve onto the screen. Since the projection lens has a wide field angle and has the reflecting mirror provided therein, the projection system can be very compact.
