Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes second substrates, a light-shielding layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes pixel electrodes, a common electrode, and subpixel areas each including area in which the pixel electrode is present and a second area in which the pixel electrode is not present. Each of the subpixel areas includes first and second sides. The first area includes an axial area and branch areas. The second area includes a gap area between the adjacent branch areas. The axial area includes a projection portion projecting to the second side and in alignment with the gap area, and overlaps the light-shielding layer.

Abstract: An FFS (Fringe Field Switching) mode liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a liquid crystal display device are provided. The FFS mode LCD panel includes a color film substrate including a first planar layer and an array substrate including a second planar layer. The inner surface of the first planar layer or the second planar layer, which is corresponding to non-overlapping regions, has a plurality of wedge structures thereon. The non-overlapping regions are regions located above the common electrode which is not overlapped with projective areas of the pixel electrode being projected on the common electrode.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display and a display device, when the liquid crystal display is powered on, a pixel electrode and a common electrode form an electric field, and liquid crystal molecules are deflected under the action of the electric field. However, due to network of the polymer, the liquid crystal polymer is in a scattering state which destroys the condition of total reflection of light from a backlight between two substrates, in such a manner that at least part of light from the backlight is scattered by the liquid crystal polymer and then is emitted from one side of a first substrate. When the liquid crystal display is in an off-state, a long-axis direction of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal polymer is the same as an extending direction of a long-chain in the liquid crystal polymer, and the liquid crystal polymer is in a transparent state.

Abstract: Pixels of a liquid crystal display device exhibit, in a switched manner, a black display state where black display is provided in a state where a vertical electric field is generated in a liquid crystal layer, a white display state where white display is provided in a state where a lateral electric field is generated in the liquid crystal layer, and a transparent display state where a rear side of a liquid crystal display panel is seen through where no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer. A gray scale level group including gray scale levels from a lowest level to a highest level includes a white level, a transparent level having a luminance higher than that of the white level, and a plurality of sub-transparent levels each having a luminance higher than that of the white level and lower than that of the transparent level.

Abstract: A pixel structure is provided. The pixel structure includes a substrate and an insulating layer on the substrate. The insulating layer includes a plane region. An electrode pattern is disposed on the insulating layer and located on the plane region. The electrode pattern includes a bottom layer and a plurality of protrusions connected to the bottom layer. The protrusions protrude from the top surface of the bottom layer towards a direction away from the substrate. The bottom layer covers the plane region. A plurality of slits are formed between the protrusions so as to expose portions of the bottom layer. A liquid-crystal display having the pixel structure is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display (LCD) module and device with switchable viewing angles. The LCD module and device contain parallel and sequentially stacked backlight unit, LCD unit, and view-angle adjustment unit. The backlight unit is positioned along a back side of the LCD module and device as a backlight light source. The LCD unit is sandwiched between the backlight unit and the view-angle adjustment unit. Light produced by the backlight unit propagates through the LCD unit and the view-angle adjustment unit sequentially. Through the view-angle adjustment unit, The LCD module and device can switch between a wide angle mode and a narrow angle mode.
