Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods for determining a cyclic shift delay (CSD) mode from a plurality of CSD modes is disclosed. A received OFDM signal is converted to a channel impulse response (CIR) signal in the time domain and/or a channel frequency response (CFR) signal in the frequency domain. Matched filters and a comparator are used to determine a most likely current CSD mode. Alternatively, a classifier is used with a number of inputs including outputs from two or more matched filters and one or more outputs from a feature extractor. The feature extractor extracts features in the time domain from the CIR signal and/or in the frequency domain from the CFR signal useful in distinguishing various CSD modes.
Abstract:
A method includes: receiving one or more positioning signals; determining that a UE is line-of-sight to fewer than a threshold number of positioning signal sources; determining a first position estimate hypothesis for the UE using a first position estimating process and one or more first measurements of the positioning signal(s); determining a second position estimate hypothesis for the UE using a second position estimating process and one or more second measurements of the positioning signal(s), wherein the second position estimating process uses a second parameter value of a parameter and the parameter is absent from the first position estimating process or has a first parameter value that is different from the second parameter value; and reporting a reported position estimate based on the first position estimate hypothesis or the second position estimate hypothesis in response to the UE being line-of-sight to fewer than the threshold number of positioning signal sources.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a given entity obtains a location of at least one terrestrial transmit station of a Synchronized Wireless Transmission Network (SWTN), transmit station calibration information associated with the at least one terrestrial transmit station and a location of a user equipment (UE) that is in wireless communication range with the at least one terrestrial transmit station. The given entity estimates the time calibration value for the UE based on the obtained transmit station location, the determined transmit station calibration information and the determined location of the UE. In another embodiment, a server obtains time calibration values that are estimated for each UE in the population of UEs. The server aggregates the estimated time calibration values based on device model and/or device operation mode, and calculates a representative time calibration value for UEs sharing the device model and/or device operation mode.
Abstract:
A method of locating a target device includes: producing, at a query device, a request for a location of a target device, the query device including a first radio, of a first type, configured to communicate wirelessly using a first communication protocol, the target lacking a radio of the first type but including a second radio, of a second type, configured to communicate wirelessly using a second communication protocol, the second communication protocol being incompatible with the first communication protocol; and transmitting the request wirelessly, from the query device to a first intermediate device, using the first radio.

Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for automatic communication mode selection. The method may include detecting a communication by a user equipment. The method may also include determining one or more characteristics associated with the communication, wherein the one or more characteristics comprise user environmental data, public environmental data, or a combination thereof associated with the communication. Furthermore, the method may include selecting a mode for the communication that is different from an original mode of the detected communication based on the one or more characteristics.
Abstract:
Method, device, computer program product, and apparatus to enable mobile device position optimization and reporting are described. Signals provided by a plurality of base transceiver stations (BTS) are received to determine a BTS-based position of the mobile device. A reference position of the mobile device is determined. A range measurement with respect to a target BTS is determined. In one aspect, one or more unreliable BTSs may be detected and reported based on a positioning measurement quality, a range measurement quality, or combinations thereof. In one aspect, the positioning measurement quality is determined based on a difference between the reference position of the mobile device and the BTS-based position of the mobile device. In one aspect, the range measurement quality is determined based on a difference between a measured range/distance and a reference/expected range/distance.
Abstract:

In one embodiment, an access point device includes a transceiver configured to receive signals from a mobile device, a processor coupled to the transceiver, and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having stored thereon code configured to be executed by the processor, the code instructing the processor to: control a plurality of beacons in the access point device, obtain range measurements using the plurality of beacons in the access point device, and assist calibration of a beacon in the mobile device using the range measurements obtained by the plurality of beacons in the access point device.
Abstract:
A method of associating environmental context with wireless access points is disclosed. In some embodiments, a method on a user equipment may comprise determining at least one environmental context associated with a subset of one or more Access Points (APs) visible to the UE at an estimated location of the UE. The at least one environmental context associated with the subset may be determined based on one or more of wireless measurements by the UE, and/or sensor measurements by the UE. Further, at least one AP cluster may be determined by clustering the subset of the one or more APs visible to the UE based on the at least one environmental context and the estimated location. Environmental context for APs may be crowdsourced and stored and provided to a UE as location assistance information to facilitate location determination and other functions.
