Abstract: A method of registering a target device includes: receiving a first indication to initiate a registration; and determining a suggested registration location and/or or a suggested registration name. The method further includes: providing a second indication of at least one of the suggested registration location or the suggested registration name; providing a third indication requesting at least one of whether the suggested registration location is accepted or whether the suggested registration name is accepted; receiving a fourth indication indicating at least one of whether the suggested registration location is accepted or whether the suggested registration name is accepted; and registering the target device by storing target device information based on the fourth indication.

An example of an apparatus according to the disclosure includes a transceiver configured to detect one or more proximate devices, and at least one processor operably coupled to the transceiver and configured to receive authentication information from the user, determine that the one or more proximate devices is at least one companion device, and validate the user based on the authentication information and a detection of the at least one companion device.

Abstract: A mobile device can send and receive signals in a dedicated frequency band and receive signals in a separate frequency band separate from the dedicated frequency band. The mobile device can send one or more frequency band compatibility combinations each including first and second frequency bands, the first frequency band being in the separate frequency band and the second frequency band being in the dedicated frequency. The mobile device can listen, based on a received neighbor list, for a first signal that has a frequency in the first frequency band and for a second signal that has a frequency in the second frequency band. The mobile device can determine, based on the first signal, ranging information indicative of a range from the mobile device to a source of the first signal, e.g., to obtain improved accuracy ranging information.

Abstract: Techniques provided herein are directed toward adjusting the rate at which a mobile device's barometric pressure sensor takes measurements, based on whether movement is detected from motion sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and the like. Where movement is below a threshold (e.g., below a threshold speed or within a threshold distance), then the barometric pressure sensor can reduce the sampling rate to a rate that still enables the mobile device to account for changes in the weather. If movement is detected (e.g., greater than a threshold distance), then the sampling rate of the barometric pressure sensor increases (i.e., to a normal rate for determining vertical movement changes).

The flight-specific route for the UAV is determined dynamically during the flight or in advance before the flight, using navigation assistance data that includes flight-specific navigation assistance data for a plurality of geographic zones determined based on flight-specific information. The flight-specific navigation assistance data includes flight-specific ranking data for the plurality of geographic zones that can be used by the UAV or a server to determine the flight route.
