Abstract:
In a telephone conference unit, any participant to a conference is able to invite an additional participant to the conference by specifying the telephone number of the new participant. A transaction convertor (6), under the control of a service control point (5), sends an invitation message such as a text message (or a voice message) to the new participant. The invitation message includes a telephone number for the invited participant to dial in order to be connected to the conference.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and system for executing whole domain searches based on user queries and producing a result list of root nodes. The method and system comprise searching a network containing a plurality of web sites further containing a plurality of pages by examining all pages of a web site and comparing indexed terms to desired search terms. A result list of domain root nodes is returned wherein not all search terms may appear on a single document or associated page of the root page. Pages containing desired search terms may be indexed and mapped to root nodes for access from a result list.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a bifunctional nucleic acid which includes a first nucleic acid which comprises an aptamer bonded to a second nucleic acid that possesses a biological activity (herein referred to as a “biological effector sequence”) and which is not a nucleic acid ligand.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, systems, and media are disclosed for replacing an email attachment with a call, and forwarding the email with the call to a user for selective display of the attachment by making a call. One embodiment includes receiving an email on a mail server, wherein the email has the email attachment, and removing the email attachment from the email to produce a stripped email. The embodiment further includes storing the email attachment on a server, adding the call to the stripped email, and forwarding the stripped email with the call for displaying to a recipient.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method of controlling delivery of text messages to a subscriber (2, 9, 10) in a telecommunications services apparatus, the method comprising the steps of the subscriber making a selection as to a mode of delivery that the subscriber requires for one of (i) a future text message and (ii) a category of future text messages, for example delivery by fax or e-mail, the subscriber's requested selection being implemented by a message processing means (3) in the form of an SMS router which is part of the home network (B) with which the subscriber's mobile telephone is normally associated, the arrangement being such that any text messages intended by the sender (1) to be delivered to the said subscriber, as intended receiver thereof, are directed to the message processing means which then implements the delivery mode previously selected by the subscriber (2, 9, 10).
Abstract:
Surgical methods of repairing defects and deficiencies in the spine are disclosed. The methods involve delivering a single part in-situ polymerizing fluid to (i) close a weakened segment or fissure in the annulus fibrosus, (ii) strengthen the annulus, (iii) replace or augment the disc nucleus, or (iv) localize a disc prosthesis. The methods may include placing a delivery conduit adjacent to the repair site and providing a liquid tissue adhesive to bond to and repair a disc defect or deficiency
Abstract:
A telephone conferencing system includes a voice services equipment (VSE) allowing a number of telephone calls to be connected together to form a conferencing function. The initiator of the telephone conference calls in on an incoming line and is asked by the VSE to give the telephone numbers of the desired other participants to the conference. These numbers are then stored in a participant number store and the system dials out to these telephone numbers with an invitation to join the conference by ringing a certain number. When the participants call back on the incoming/outgoing lines, their identity is checked, preferably automatically by means of calling line identity signals, with the numbers in the store, and only in the event of a match is each participant allowed to join the conference. For additional security, the participants may also need to enter a specific PIN, which may have been read out by the stem during the invitation to join the conference.
Abstract:
A silk blend ballistic fabric for creating comfortable and flexible bulletproof apparel includes a plurality of silk threads and a plurality of para-aramid fiber threads interwoven with the plurality of silk threads to create a fabric. An alternative embodiment of the disclosure generally comprises a hybrid thread comprising a silk thread and a para-aramid fiber thread twisted with the silk thread. The resulting hybrid thread can be woven to create the fabric. The resulting fabric is bulletproof and substantially flexible to create articles of clothing such as, but not limited to, trousers, shirts, and the like.
Abstract:
A shrinkable camera skin assembly for altering the appearance of a camera body includes a camera wrap is positionable around a camera body to alter the appearance of the camera body. The camera wrap has a plurality of openings therein each being aligned with respective structural features of the camera body. A lens wrap is wrapped around a body of a camera lens to alter the appearance of the body of the camera lens. A hood wrap is wrapped around a lens hood to alter the appearance of the lens hood. Each of the camera wrap, the lens wrap and the hood wrap is comprised of a heat shrink material. Thus, the camera, lens and hood wraps can shrink around the respective camera body, camera lens and lens hood.
