    Abstract: A method of determining one or more candidate prediction modes, the method comprises deriving, by a processor, a first indicator by parsing a bitstream, wherein the first indicator specifies whether any affine model is a candidate motion model for an image block in a preset area; determining, by the processor, that the first indicator is set to 1; deriving, by the processor and based on the determination that the first indicator is set to 1, a second indicator by parsing the bitstream, wherein the second indicator specifies whether a 6-parameter affine model is a candidate motion model for the image block; and determining, by the processor, one or more candidate prediction modes for the image block based on the first indicator and the second indicator.

    Abstract: An image prediction method and apparatus includes obtaining predicted motion information of an image block; determining an initial predicted block of the image block according to the predicted motion information and a reference image of the image block; performing, according to the predicted motion information, L iterative searches in the reference image using an integer pixel step size to obtain an intermediate predicted block of the image block; performing a single search in the reference image using a fractional pixel step size to obtain M predicted blocks of the image block; determining a target predicted block of the image block according to the M predicted blocks and the intermediate predicted block; and obtaining a predicted value of a pixel value of the image block according to a pixel value of the target predicted block.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a picture prediction method and a related apparatus are disclosed. A picture prediction method includes: determining K1 pixel samples in a picture block x, and determining a candidate motion information unit set corresponding to each pixel sample in the K1 pixel samples, where the candidate motion information unit set corresponding to each pixel sample includes at least one candidate motion information unit; determining a merged motion information unit set i including K1 motion information units, where each motion information unit in the merged motion information unit set i is selected from at least a part of motion information units in candidate motion information unit sets corresponding to different pixel samples in the K1 pixel samples; and predicting a pixel value of the picture block x by using a non-translational motion model and the merged motion information unit set i.

    Abstract: A picture prediction method is provided, which includes: obtaining initial motion information of a current picture block; determining, based on a matching cost criterion, that positions of a pair of reference blocks are a position of a target forward reference block of the current picture block and a position of a target backward reference block of the current picture block, where positions of each pair of reference blocks include a position of a forward reference block and a position of a backward reference block; and for the positions of each pair of reference blocks, a first position offset and a second position offset are in a mirror relationship; and obtaining a predicted value of a pixel value of the current picture block based on a pixel value of the target forward reference block and a pixel value of the target backward reference block.

    Abstract: An image prediction method and apparatus is disclosed. The image prediction method includes: determining, according to information about adjacent image units adjacent to a to-be-processed image unit, whether a set of candidate prediction modes for the to-be-processed image unit includes an affine merge mode, where the affine merge mode indicates that respective predicted images of the to-be-processed image unit and the adjacent image units of the to-be-processed image unit are obtained by using a same affine model; parsing a bitstream to obtain first indication information; determining, in the set of candidate prediction modes, a prediction mode for the to-be-processed image unit according to the first indication information; and determining a predicted image of the to-be-processed image unit according to the prediction mode. The method reduces a bit rate of encoding a prediction mode, thereby improving encoding efficiency.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining whether an inter prediction process is enabled is disclosed in this application. The method includes obtaining an indication, where the indication indicates whether a slice-level weighted prediction mechanism is to be enabled in the inter prediction process. The method further includes determining, based on the indication, whether a non-rectangular merge mode or whether the slice-level weighted prediction mechanism is to be enabled in the inter prediction process. Furthermore, an encoder for encoding a data stream, like a video stream, using an inter prediction process and a decoder for decoding an encoded data stream, like an encoded video stream, using an inter prediction process, are disclosed.
