Abstract:
A display article is described herein that includes: a substrate comprising a thickness and a primary surface; and the primary surface having defined thereon a diffractive surface region. The diffractive surface region comprises a plurality of structural features that comprises a plurality of different heights in a multimodal distribution. Further, the substrate exhibits a sparkle of less than 4%, as measured by pixel power deviation (PPD140) at an incident angle of 0° from normal, a distinctness of image (DOI) of less than 80% at an incident angle of 20° from normal, and a transmittance haze of less than 20% from an incident angle of 0° from normal.
Abstract:
Described herein are glass articles and methods of making glass articles, comprising a thin sheet and a carrier, wherein the thin sheet and carrier or bonded together using a coating layer, which is preferably an organosiloxane polymer coating layer, and associated deposition methods and inert gas treatments that may be applied on the thin sheet, the carrier, or both, to control van der Waals, hydrogen and covalent bonding between the thin sheet and the carrier. The coating layer bonds the thin sheet and carrier together to prevent a permanent bond at high temperature processing while at the same time maintaining a sufficient bond to prevent delamination during high temperature processing.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing and treating a glass article wherein the treatment of the article includes directing a flow of plasma, such as a flow of plasma comprising an atmospheric pressure plasma jet, toward an edge surface of the article. Such treatment can reduce a density of particles on an edge surface of the article. Such treatment can also increase the edge strength of the article.
Abstract:
A method for treating a flexible plastic substrate is provided herein. The method includes establishing an atmospheric pressure plasma beam from an inert gas using a power of greater than about 90W, directing the plasma beam toward a surface of the flexible polymer substrate, and scanning the plasma beam across the surface of the polymer substrate to form a treated substrate surface.

Abstract:
Refractory glass-forming tools, including glass-forming molds incorporating protective metal nitride surface coatings, with optional alumina barrier layers disposed between the mold bodies and coating for high-temperature nitride coating stability, offering particular advantages for the manufacture by direct molding of optically finished glass products such as information display cover glasses from refractory alkali aluminosilicate glasses at molding temperatures up to and above 800° C.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus provide for a structure, including: a first glass material layer; and a second material layer bonded to the first glass material layer via bonding material, where the bonding material is formed from one of glass frit material, ceramic frit material, glass ceramic frit material, and metal paste, which has been melted and cured.
Abstract:
A multi-layer coating for a glass-shaping mold is disclosed. The multi-layer coating may include a glass-contacting layer and a diffusion barrier layer. The glass-contacting layer may make contact with glass during glass-shaping and may include titanium oxide, aluminium oxide, or combinations thereof. The diffusion barrier layer may be positioned between the glass-contacting layer and a mold body and may restrict diffusion of base metals from the mold body to the glass-contacting layer and diffusion of glass materials from the glass-contacting layer to the mold body.
