Abstract:
Polymeric layer having first and second, generally opposed major surfaces, comprising an array of openings extending between the first and second major surfaces. The polymeric layers are useful, for example, as components in personal care garments such as diapers and feminine hygiene products. They can also be useful for filtering (including liquid filtering) and acoustic applications.
Abstract:

Nettings described herein have a variety of uses, including wound care, tapes, filtration, absorbent articles, pest control articles, geotextile applications, water/vapor management in clothing, reinforcement for non-woven articles, self bulking articles, floor coverings, grip supports, athletic articles, and pattern coated adhesives.
Abstract:
Netting (100) comprising an array of polymeric strands (121, 122) periodically joined together at bond regions (113) throughout the array, and methods and dies for making the same. Nettings described herein have a variety of uses, including wound care and other medical applications, filtration, absorbent articles, pest control articles, and geotextile applications.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a slot die comprises, while continuing to pass the extrudate through the fluid flow path and out the applicator slot, changing the position of the actuators with the controller to either increase the cross-directional thickness of the fluid flow path adjacent each of the actuators or substantially close the fluid flow path adjacent the actuators, and after changing the cross-directional thickness of the fluid flow path adjacent each of the actuators, while continuing to pass the extrudate through the fluid flow path and out the applicator slot, repositioning each of the actuators with the controller according to the set of discrete settings to resume operating the slot die with the actuators positioned according to the set of discrete settings.
Abstract:
A film comprising stripes alternating with strands is disclosed. In some embodiments, the strands have a core and a sheath. The core is more elastic than both the sheath and the strands. In some embodiments, the film has an elongation of at least 75 percent, the width of the strands is in a range from 100 micrometers to 750 micrometers, and a portion of each strand forms part of at least one major surface of the film. An extrusion die useful for making the film and a method for making the film using the extrusion die are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An incrementally activated laminate that includes an incrementally activated fibrous web and a film having alternating first and second regions and a laminate of the film and an extensible fibrous web. The first region of the film includes a first polymeric composition, and the second regions include an elastic polymeric composition that is more elastic than the first polymeric composition. In the incrementally activated laminate, the distance between midpoints of two first regions separated by one second region is smaller than the activation pitch, and the first regions are not plastically deformed. In the extensible laminate, a tensile elongation at maximum load of the film is up to 250 percent of the tensile elongation at maximum load of the extensible fibrous web. Methods of making the laminates are also described.
Abstract:
A magnetic shielding film includes opposing first and second major surfaces and a plurality of particles dispersed therebetween, each particle having a magnetic permeability, a thickness H along a thickness direction of the particle, and a longest dimension L along a length direction of the particle orthogonal to the thickness direction, L/H greater than or equal to 2, the particles defining a plurality of voids therebetween, the length directions of at least 60% of the particles oriented within 5.5 degrees of a same orientation direction.
Abstract:
Coextended polymeric article comprising a layer comprising first and second opposed major surfaces, wherein a plurality of attached projection pairs comprising first and second projections extend from only the first major surface (i.e., the second major surface is free of any projections), wherein each first projection has at least first and second opposed sides and a height from the first major surface to a distal end, wherein each first projection has at least first and second opposed sides and a height from the first major surface to a distal end. Uses for coextruded polymeric articles described herein include adhesive articles and household cleaning products (e.g., a mop, a duster, a brush, a cleaning cloth, or a lint roller).
Abstract:
Articles comprising first and second coextruded polymeric nettings are described. The articles comprise a plurality of pairs of first segments comprising a first material. Adjacent first segments are joined together via a second segments comprising second material, wherein the second segments extend past the first major surface of each first adjacent segments. The articles further include an adhesive on at least one of the first or second major surfaces of the first segment. The first segments, second segments, and third material each extend continuously for at least 5 mm in the machine direction, and the first and second materials of adjacent pairs are periodically bonded together in the machine direction. A portion of some of the first segments of the first coextruded polymeric netting are engaged between some of the adjacent first segments of the second coextruded polymeric netting.
Abstract:
Coextruded articles comprising first and second layers each having first and second opposed major surfaces and between the first and second layers a series of first walls providing a series of microchannels, and methods for making the same. Embodiment of coextruded articles described herein are useful, for example, in cushioning applications where high levels of compression are desired.
